Texas Legislature Has Passed a Law Permanently Barring Muslims From Trying to Institute Sharia Law

Once again the nation looks to Texas for the way things ought to be.

This time the Texas Legislature has passed a law permanently barring Muslims from trying to institute their own sharia-based savagery on their own communities in the Lone Star State. Shoebat.com reports that the anti-sharia law was passed this week.

WOAI State Sen. Donna Campbell (R-New Braunfels) doesn’t mention Islamic Koranic law, or ‘Sharia Law’ in her bill. She simply says it guarantees that no laws fro ‘foreign courts’ will be adopted by Texas civil court judges.

“It’s just to provide some belt and suspenders to make sure that, with judicial discretion, we don’t trump Texas law, American law, with a foreign law regarding family law,” Campbell said.

Muslim groups say the bill is a ‘solution looking for problem, and claim that the bill has its genesis in an anti Muslim demonstration on the steps of the Texas Capitol in January in which the proposal was cheered.

If I was me, I’d say “sharia law is heretofore banned in the state of Texas.”

Struck down? On what basis? Federal Law? Does that still exist?

Oklahoma actually adopted an amendment to its state constitution back in 2010 on this subject; of course, a liberal federal judge struck the amendment down.

http://blogs.wsj.com/law/2013/08/16/oklahoma-ban-on-sharia-law-unconstitutional-us-judge-rules/

Interestingly, here in Virginia where I live we have a provision of the Bill of Rights of the state constitution which would seem to bar Sharia:

Article I. Bill of Rights
Section 14. Government should be uniform
That the people have a right to uniform government; and, therefore, that no government separate from, or independent of, the government of Virginia, ought to be erected or established within the limits thereof.

I looked quickly at the Texas constitution and did not see a similar provision.

I hope that also mean international law as well.

If I’m not mistaken, even the Supremes have shamelessly cited ‘International law’ as a basis for some rulings.

Thank you. I get tired of telling people that the 85th Legislative session doesn’t start until next January.

Let me play the devil's advocate arguing the case in favor of US Sharia law in U.S. court.

Organizations like: churches, non-profits, corporations, clubs, etc., have laws that govern their respective entity. For the most part, those laws and by-laws were created by U.S. citizens within the given organization.

A mosque board, made up of US citizens in a U.S. mosque, decides, with exceptions for amputations, beatings etc., to adopt Sharia law that governs members of that U.S. mosque. I've made a fair agreement, right?

No my friends, we're dancing around the problem. Islam needs to be recognized as a system that advocates the overthrow of our government. It is incompatible with the U.S. Constitution and democracy. We need to deport all Muslims and raze all mosques in the US. We need to bar all Muslims from entering the country. Islam is our enemy and will destroy us given the change. We can and should outlaw Islam based on: "18 U.S. Code § 2385 - Advocating overthrow of Government".

"Whoever knowingly or willfully advocates, abets, advises, or teaches the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying the government of the United States or the government of any State, Territory, District or Possession thereof, or the government of any political subdivision therein, by force or violence, or by the assassination of any officer of any such government; or

Whoever, with intent to cause the overthrow or destruction of any such government, prints, publishes, edits, issues, circulates, sells, distributes, or publicly displays any written or printed matter advocating, advising, or teaching the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying any government in the United States by force or violence, or attempts to do so; or

Whoever organizes or helps or attempts to organize any society, group, or assembly of persons who teach, advocate, or encourage the overthrow or destruction of any such government by force or violence; or becomes or is a member of, or affiliates with, any such society, group, or assembly of persons, knowing the purposes thereof—

Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction."
