State worried about Marine uniforms during attack (Benghazi)
The Politico ^ | June 28, 2016 | Rachael Bade

State Department officials on an emergency conference call during the Benghazi attack brought up concerns about whether Marines that might have been deployed should wear uniforms — something officials previously said could hurt diplomacy in the region, according to House Benghazi investigators.

The final GOP-authored House Benghazi report released Tuesday included new details of a two-hour video teleconference call the night of the attack, a session led by White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough. Clinton and top Defense officials were also on the call, which was supposed to center on how to get Americans out of harm's way.

But a substantial part of the discussion, GOP investigators said, centered on how and why the attack happened rather than narrowly examining potential rescue plans. Half of the action items people wrote down in the meeting didn't have to do with evacuation; many of them were about an anti-Islam video, which the administration would incorrectly blame for the violence.

The report also found that a State official brought up a question about whether Marines should wear civilian clothing instead of their uniforms. Under secretary of State for management Patrick Kennedy told investigators he wanted to ensure that security was enhanced, not hurt by flags on the uniforms of any U.S. military presence.

But, one commander told the committee that as they were readying themselves to deploy they kept having to change in and out of their uniforms four times.

The military never deployed to Benghazi.

State Department deputy spokesperson Mark Toner in a statement said the clothing issue did not affect the speed or timeliness of any possible military response.

“We are aware that the committee is critical of these issues, but we are not aware of any finding that they had any impact on the attacks or our ability to send help," the statement says. "The fact is, we did not cause a delay.... Concerns about what they wore had no bearing on the timing of their arrival.”

Where were these marines? We’ve been told that nobody was near...so where were these marines. I assume not too far away.

Same thing happened with USS Cole. The “Maid” Albright abhorred .50 cal. and camo at foreign ports...said it was poor form. Marines/Navy on the deck of the USS Colewere in Class A/Class B uniforms as if on parade and no weapons were available...except harsh language. Damn her and liberals to Hell!

They were close enough.
The White Hut didn’t want them to get there.
Hence the worthless orders to change clothes 4 times.

I think most FReepers wanted so much more from Gowdy on this, but I think that Trump will be able to use both the Democrat and GOP Benghazi reports to great impact.

This and the testimonies of the families of the killed Americans. I fully expect those families to have prime-time speaking slots at the GOP convention telling how Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton lied to their face as the flag-draped coffins of their sons were being unloaded from military aircraft.

Clinton’s response is a response of desperation. These reports will draw political blood.

Can you imagine how stupid the Democrats are to somehow think that a significant number of voters are going to believe that Donald Trump had anything to do with Benghazi? They mention his name almost two dozen times in their report. Insane.

Trump also had a barn-burner of a speech today trashing PIAPS and the globalists.

Watch more Republicans endorse Trump. He is pounding Clinton like he pounded Jeb!

How long have we waited for a Republican to take it to the Democrats as hard as they take it to other Republicans, particularly conservatives?

Trump. He fights. About damn time a Republican nominee did.

The president & then sec of state are over all responsible for what ever for did NOT happen during their time/s in office. Whether it is for good or ill, the “buck” stops on their desk/s. This is the terrible price of command. And clearly there was a major fault in the chain of command. Help was only a couple of hours away [once the crap hit the fan]. But the consult should have been more fortified with a much larger security forces avail. Jadahi’s love to attack on major holiday events [in this case 911], or when they think the chances of being stopped are much less. And the problem is only going to get much worse, since we [as a nation] have let it fester, like a cancerous cyst. Now it is going to take much more in both blood & treasure to secure that region for all mankind to live in relative peace again.

Campaign malpractice if this does not make it into a campaign commercial.

"The fact is, we did not cause a delay.... Concerns about what they wore had no bearing on the timing of their arrival."

That statement is certainly technically correct. The administration did not cause a delay, it stood down the entire response.

Good Rules of Engagement question: In how large a radius around our consulate are the United States Marines allowed to kill every enemy combatant they encounter?

Bad Rules of Engagement question: Are the United States Marines allowed to wear their uniforms into combat?

Only a liberal would have difficulty telling the difference between the two types of questions.

The pantywaists in the State Department have been playing these nonsensical games for decades. Will someone please explain to me why the entire Department shouldn’t join the Education Department, ATF, EPA and a host of others on the chopping block.

IF THE BRAVE CIA CONTRACTORS HAD NOT STEPPED UP.......ignored the stand down order.......THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN 36+ MORE DEAD AT THE AMBASSADOR’S LOCATION.....

why was blue mountain (with offices in DC just down from state) chosen as security when normally marines woudl fill the bill..?? perhaps a little kickback involved and why did blue mtn. contract with the 17 feb brigade (known terrorists),,?? smells bad right?? well in fact a congressman’s wife was part owner of the dc branch... wonder if appropriate contribution was made to the foundation also,,??

but you see.... that number was acceptible writeoff to obama and clinton, so long as neither al queda or lybia was OFFENDED.. oh so PC and diverse and cuddly warm... if you are an idiot or a LIBTARD safely ensconced in your bed back in DC....

cowardice and treason and then coverup......during combat wth the enemy
THEY BOTH SHOULD BE TRIED CONVICTED AND HUNG
