I was hoping Romania’d be able to squeak by. They never get a break.

Poland or Switzerland is on course to play Croatia who to me, look as good as anyone. Of course, the talk is about the top-heavy other bracket. If Belgium starts playing to their potential, that other bracket will become much stronger. It's hard to say. And of course, if England had defeated Slovakia, they would be in the other bracket.

Many teams, maybe about all of them would do something like this but it does set up an interesting pairing.

That drew France up, it did not win the game for them. Then, they went to the 2010 World Cup where curiously, I believe had one of the poorest records, perhaps North Korea was worse.

Good luck to all of the countries. A fine tournament. I hope the Croat contingent behave themselves. Buzzards, the team is on fire, and there own contrymen could undermine them.

Not much diving or things of this nature in this Euro Cup.

To me, I can’t help but think the Croatians look like the best team there.

L’Equipe’s top 5 matches of the Euro so far:

http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Euro-notre-top-5-des-plus-beaux-matches-de-la-phase-de-poules/698383

1. Croatia Spain

2. Hungary Portugal

3. Russia Wales

4. Czech Republic Turkey

5. Belgium Italy

Rather arbitrary, they don’t want to name teams twice; Wales Slovakia, Slovakia Wales were good matches too.

1. 2. and 5. I think are good choices. Probably 3. too.

´He was nearly dead six years ago´ - Coleman full of admiration for Duffy

Excerpt

Republic of Ireland defender Seamus Coleman expressed his pride at the performance of Shane Duffy against Italy, just six years on from a near fatal accident.

The Blackburn Rovers man was handed his first competitive start by Martin O'Neill in Wednesday's crucial Euro 2016 clash in Lille, and excelled at the heart of the defence.

Duffy's performance was all-the-more remarkable given that, in 2010, a freak collision in a training session caused an artery connected to his liver to be severed, prompting emergency surgery to save his life.

And Coleman, who has played alongside the 24-year-old for Everton as well as Ireland, was amazed by his display in the vital 1-0 win.

"Shane Duffy was incredible, in his first competitive game," he said. "Let's not forget he was nearly dead six years ago. He's such a good lad, we've been together since Everton, and I'm so proud of him."

I thought this was a bit amazing.
