'Dilbert' Creator Scott Adams to Bill Maher: Donald Trump Will Win Election In A Landslide
Real Clear Politics ^ | May 28, 2016 | Ian Schwartz

Bill welcomes Dilbert creator and "How to Fail at Everything and Still Win Big" author Scott Adams to discuss Trump's powers of persuasion and branding in this clip from May 27, 2016.

SCOTT ADAMS: I've been studying persuasion for decades and when I saw Trump last summer displaying the tools of persuasion I thought, 'Oh my God, he's not a crazy clown. Everything he's doing, including his complete ignoring of the facts, is persuasion perfection. I called him to be the landslide winner in the general election last year.

Essentially he's basically bringing a flamethrower to a stick fight. There's nobody using the same tools that he's using. So his complete ignoring of facts are actually part of the persuasion because he doesn't give you targets. He doesn't give you details of his policies, usually. So he's reducing the number of targets while making you feel good and focusing on the things he wants. So it's not about facts, it's about focus and attention....

I’ll bet that made Maher’s huge honker honk.

I’m REALLY surprised Bill didn’t ignite.

I thought he kept Sara Silverman backstage for just an occasion.

I do not have anywhere near that level of confidence. Every Trump supporter needs to donate time and money to the campaign, to get-out-the-vote efforts, and to poll watching. It’s not over until it’s over, and that includes counting the ballots. We have to put Hillary outside the margin of fraud. Overconfidence feels good, and justifiable confidence is good, but expectations cannot be permitted to change the amount of energy we put into the remainder of the election.

Scott Addams is a wise man with a sense of humor. Extremely successful, but not preachy about it. Still doesn’t take himself too seriously, unlike others such as Bill Nye the (fake) Science Guy.
Scott understands the psychology of the western man far better than most.

One of the things that honks me off this election season is the pretense and/or illusion that what Trump's rhetorical "flaws" or confrontational tone are somehow unprecedented. They are not. Successful politicians, usually Liberals, do these things too--but they usually are not as effective as he is--and they usually aren't called on it.

I keep asking myself, "have I seen this sort of thing before?" The answer is usually, "Yes."

Last autumn, I concluded that Trump is essentially the most highly evolved predator in our political jungle. And I was quick to realize that the EneMedia would not be able to destroy him in the same way that they did to Sarah Palin or were likely to do with Ted Cruz.

I have believed since November that he would be the GOP nominee. I also knew early on that, as the most evolved predator, he would not play by the rules of the EneMedia, the Democrats, and the Vichy Republicans. He will hit Hillary hard and repeatedly. And in her case, he doesn't have to exaggerate. The truth alone beggars belief. Thus he would be most likely to defeat the Hildebeast.

You really think it will happen, despite your rhetorical jargon?

Agree with what you say, but until this broadcast, I didn’t know he puts Trump down. Did I miss something?

I had a package delivered to the house today. Driver saw my MAGA hat and commented that he is finding Trump voters at about 60% of the houses he's delivering to, if not more. The guys at my local coffee/donut shop say same thing, more than 1/2 of visitors are quietly voting Trump! Yippie!!!!

That he puts Trump down, is not too surprising. He has already crawled out on a limb saying anything that can be seen as a positive statement about Trump. I don’t think even Scott Adams is ready to go ‘all the way’ and rip up his Progressive/Intelligentsia status. That may come after Trump is elected. Adams is just being honest about what is trending and what is diminishing. Same as any Statistician does when crunching the numbers.

Of course he will.

But only those of us on the Alt-Right knew it before, say, a month ago.

I couldn’t agree more. You have succinctly summed up my own view since late last year.

Trump is a natural leader, and that is something you can’t manufacture or fake.

This is no guarantee he will win in November (given the demographics brought about by 5 decades of Teddy Kennedy’s 1965 “shut the door to Europe and instead invite the rest of the world to come here” immigration bill), but I guarantee that Trump is the only one of the GOP stable with a prayer.

I agree with this guy. I truly believe that before the end of the Summer, Trump will be seen as “inevitable” even by the Left.

Maher is intelligent enough to recognize that it is true. He may be a lefty but he’s not a Clinton cultist. If you’ve talked to Sanders supporters at all during this election cycle, you’ll see that the view that Trump will annihilate Clinton is quite widely held outside of the mainstream media.

No, this is different.

You have to remember that the Media wasn't trying to play "gotcha!" with the Kenyan doper all day every day.

Trump is in an adversarial relationship with these sleazeball Media people, and he keeps putting a pie in their faces every time they open their lying yaps.
