It would generate a lot of interest this summer and fall. Socialism vs. Capitalism. Expose the millennials to what they don't know. Both are well spoken and don't have to compete for the same prize.

Fine idea, but with a major flaw. Cruz is so repellent that he would probably make converts to Communism.
What does Cruz know about Capitalism?
I’d rather see an ex-Coomunist immigrant like Servando Gonzalez (Cuba) or Gary Kasparov (Soviet Union) debate Bernie on Communism.
A distraction, at best.
Cruz is a lawyer. Only a businessperson with a knowledge of financial statements and capital markets is qualified for the capitalist side of the debate. (And not a professor of economics either!)
Flash: Capitalism is not in the Constitution, or in any legal code, although these are essential.
This is nothing against Cruz. But he’s not a businessman. If Trump is not available for the exercise, and you need a former Presidential candidate, then the only viable option is Carly. I’m certain she knows her way around a Balance Sheet.

Their perspectives, having seen both sides up close and personal, would be much more entertaining. Not to mention that they would wipe up the floor with Bernie, in record time.
