If it’s done right, it can work. They are changing it up a bit though. I would have had Hawkeye play the role that Spider-man did in the comics. He un-masks and then the bad guys take out his family.
Iron Man in the comics though was totally wrong and acting like a fascist. I can’t see them doing that in movie form. Robert Downey Jr is too charismatic for it. They’ve modified it a bit for the movie. Actually was discussing which side was right with my guy last night. I’m Team Captain America, he’s Team Iron Man.

Why did they let a hack like Rick Snyder anywhere near their material? Did they lose the Rolodex cards for the creative teams that did the various animated TV and DVD projects?

They really screwed up the Civil War comics story. It was supposed to be a genuine conflict, with both sides having legitimate points about personal freedom versus social responsibility, and they made a mess of it by mostly portraying the advocates for the latter as jack-booted jackasses.

Part of the problem was that there were a whole slew of comics authors who apparently didn't agree on basic ground rules (like exactly what the new "registration" law required). Presumably a single movie won't have that problem.

BvsS didn’t bother me. Sometime in the 90’s DC decided to be more Marvel than Marvel. I personally wish they would return to their Bronze Age house style, but that will never happen.

DC unlike Marvel does not have it’s own production company. Warner’s controls all the production and it is just product to them.

I will say that DC is doing quite well on the small screen with:

Arrow
Flash
Legends of Tomorrow
Supergirl
Gotham
Izombie
Lucifer

And the following has been ordered:

Preacher
Powerless
Scalped

In their animated division, they still producing an original animated movie every 3 months and show like Teen Titans Go!

The animated stuff is the only things attempting to stick to the original source materials.

Well not everyone is interested in 80 years of continuity and different mediums require different approaches.

For example; “The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy” began life as a radio show, next as a TV show, then as a series of novels and finally as a feature film. It was different in every medium even though the creator, Douglas Adams was in control of it each time.
