Eventually people wake up. There’s no way Tesla can make it.

Former General Motors executiveBob Lutz, the"father" of theChevy Volt, told CNBC on February 4 that Tesla's business model is upside down and predicted the "bottom will fall out" on its stock.
"Their costs have always been higher than their revenue," Lutz said. "They always have to get more capital. Then they burn through it."

Maybe they need a self combusing model like GM.

I felt for years it was a slam dunk short.
But I’ve learned (the hard way) never mess with a regime affiliated crony capitalist.

As a result of hard work and smart investments I could (*BARELY*) afford to buy a Tesla. However, even if I could afford one using just my pocket change I'd walk before I'd buy one.A few months ago I took an overnight "test drive" in a BMW i3 and found it a very underwhelming experience.
Electric car? Not in *this* lifetime.

Assuming fuel prices stay low (and there’s many reasons to believe that) the auto companies are going to have a dilemma.
The fed gov is forcing them to sell a large complement of electric and high mileage vehicles to meet Corporate Avg Fuel Economy laws when most folks want pickups and SUVs.

Agreed, my target date for buying a Tesla or any over priced electric is the 12th of never.

That’s a valid point about CAFE standards, nascar.

I like small cars as daily drivers (well I have a Caddy SUV and a GMC pickup for as needed occasions). So I expect to get some screaming deals on small cars in a few years.

It was inevitable.
The Obama subsidy sun is setting. By 2017 it will be sundown and it will be a cold, dark and stormy subsidy free night for Elon Musk.

You know what this means? It means we taxpayers should give Musk another few billion dollars to make sure all the pie-in-the-sky dreams he peddles never die. Musk is such a genius that I’m sure only a few billion more tax dollars will help... until that runs out.
