Apparently the only on-screen graphic during the entire debate.
I never saw another one.
Could they have just accidentally had his position — and only his position — on a graphic for broadcast at just the time an immigration question was being answered?
Just for the record, the first bullet says “deport criminal undocumented immigrants”.
That really appears to be something more, doesn’t it?
I thought CBS did a good job. They asked good questions and they let the candidates duke it out. I don't share Kasich's opinion that the debate should just be a sharing of opinions. People are attacking each other constantly in the media and on attack ads, so the debates are the place where scores are settled and feet are put to the fire about things they said. It's a good vetting. Finally, an open format like that naturally favors Trump who can stump anybody. And I loved it when the moderator Dickerson called Cruz out on the year when Justice Kennedy was nominated/appointed. Talk about archane facts. How could a candidate be expected to know that exact year? But Cruz boldly proclaimed that it was in 1986 that Kennedy was nominated and then Dickerson quickly explain that the 1986 date was not correct. This Think Progress article explains the exchange. And Dickerson was artful in softening the blow, saying he was "sorry" and just wanted to get the fact straight for the public. So this swag on the facts was very telling about Mr. Cruz and between that and his exchanges with Trump, Rubio, and Carson, Cruz came out bloodied. |
