Tuned in for first episode. They struck me as a family of grifters, so I never watched them again.

I sometimes watch this show for the same reason that I sometimes watch Finding Bigfoot: to make fun of it.

$2,072

The majority of the payout is from earning of the $50 billion fund, the oil royalties may be down around 20% of the total check.

Sounds like AK is doing a great job managing the fund if it has 50 Billion and making dividend payments each year.

It is set up well to protect for future growth.

If I remember correctly, basically half the earnings of a 5 year average are given out.

Apparently there is a residence requirement that they violated by not living there for the required amount of time....not sure where they were [ i think Seatle} but they didn’t stay in Alaska enough to qualify.

sounds like the judge wanted his few moments of fame by throwing the book at the hardened criminals: they had thought they had an agreement to get probation and to pay back the money. Instead, Billy and Bam get 30 days and the rest of the fam gets the probation.

They are an odd bunch for sure...their “reality” is not as primitive as portrayed. They get around and I think one of the other kids was arrested for dui. And one of them may even be married, if rumors are to be believed.

I AM curious as to what Billy’s medical issue involves.

I can understand a man wanting to live on his own and be off the grid and free but I could not let my family live like that. I would have to provide better.

This man and woman should be jailed for child abuse. You want to live like that, fine. Don’t bring kids into the world and subject them to your dreams and delusions

‘Brown family’s desire to live off the grid.’

Nothing says ‘live off the grid’ like starring in your own TV show.

LOL It's a farce. It's acting all the way down to the Aussie/Irish accents. Watch a few episodes. The break many back country living rules. This season one of them goes tracking a bear with a stick instead of a LOADED rifle. They take highly unnecessary chances as well. You must use risk management in the woods for survival. The house on the show two episodes running was raided by a bear. No Bear Boards on the window even when they left for a few days. It's fake. Raising a family off grid can be done reasonably safe, ca n be done healthy for family including kids, and has been so for many, many, generations.

It reminds me of the show Dual Survivors years ago when they were lost in the Cumberland Mountains and even after finding an old moonshine still could not rescue themselves without many unrealistic and unnecessary chances. Put me on top of a ridge or mountain in the Cumberland mountains and I will see a way out even if I have to wait until night time to watch for distant lights on another ridge or mountain. The safest is walking an old logging or mining road out.

They are absolutely out in the middle of nowhere, completely isolated. Of course, a while back somebody posted a story about their next door neighbor complaining about the film crew’s lights and drone bothering them. Maybe not too isolated.
