She’s as unlikeable as a candidate can be in an era where likeability is more important than ever.
She’s as Washington insider as a candidate can be in an era where people are sick of Washington insiders.
She’s completely lacking of personal fire and Dems need that emotional fire to get out and vote en masse.
She’s in it completely for herself which means once or twice, her wants and the US’s needs will line up and she’ll do something right. It’ll be for the wrong reasons, but it’ll still be the right thing.

While Sanders has been in DC for decades, he is considered an “outsider” because of his socialist views.
Sanders is not personally likeable but has the ability to inflame, arouse passion, rabble rouse. His chants against “the 1%” have the ring of true belief. He will bring many more dems to the polls than Hillary.
Sanders is a committed socialist which means his decision making process will ALWAYS lead to the wrong response. In all cases.

The single biggest thing that Trump has going for him is that he’s an outsider. He’s convinced a lot of people that DC is broken, no one on the inside can fix it, and because he’s an outsider, he can fix it. For him, the dream matchup is against Hillary, the insider. The contrast between the two is clear. For the non-political minded voters (e.g. the Independents) Sanders and Trump are similar. They are both looked at as outsiders. That matchup takes away some of Trump’s biggest weapon.

Lastly, we may despise Hillary but the worst possible scenario is Sanders in the Dem driver’s seat. He’s a true believer who starts with about 1/3 of the EVs needed to win before he spends a minute of time or single dollar.
