Windows 10 & Xactimate Program

Posted on 12/13/2015 7:36:53 AM PST by hsmomx3

Has anyone ever used Xactimate?

http://www.xactware.com/en-us/solutions/claims-estimating/xactimate/28/system-requirements/

I attempted to install the trial on my Windows 10 laptop and I received an MSFT pop-up saying it could not be installed. No explanation.

One of the requirements is having Internet Explorer which I no longer have as it is the Edge browser in Windows 10 or Chrome, which seems to have malware and I removed that months ago.

I am baffled, let alone not so computer/tech savvy as they say this product can be used with WIN 10.

Thanks!!

If the product requires IE then it’s probably their installer failing. Nothing you can do about it, they have pre-req which doesn’t exist on 10. E-mail the company that makes it, point out that 10 is rapidly approaching 10% of the market share and it’s past time for them to figure out how to work without IE.

At one time, I used Xactimate on a daily basis. I would suggest using the previous version (ie before the Windows 10 version) until the most recent one has been out for a year when they will have the bugs worked out.

I tried that, too, and no go.

Thank you!

Call Xactimate support. They are usually very good.

Thank you and yes, I have written to them. Last thing I want to do is tweak my computer since this program is for business and I really don’t want to mess up my personal computer.

Internet Explorer is still there in Windows 10. Open the Start menu and start typing “Internet Explorer” and it will show up.

Correct! I think you can also click in the upper right corner in Edge and there is an option in the menu to open the page in IE11.

Ok-—heard from them and I did just that, started in IE, it took forever to download and when it was installing near the end said MSFT SQL failure and I would have to restart my computer. I did that, and the program is nowhere to be found.

I give up as I do not want to put my personal computer/items in jeopardy. I need a work computer...lol!

Thanks everyone for your help.

Hi hsmomx3,

Sounds like maybe you have a satisfactory answer? If not, I can ping the Windows Ping List -- about 130 members and there might be some useful advice forthcoming. Would you like me to do a list ping on this?

Thanks, think I am going to suggest a work computer and he can load the program on to that....this way it will not interfere with my personal stuff.
