I’ll concede he sees Iran as a huge trading partner. As to whether he wants nukes there, it’s hard to see how he wouldn’t also be as scared of them as us, given his country’s proximity. Perhaps Putin feels he has options to deal with that which go a bit beyond what is allowable in ‘polite’ Western culture.
...but who knows, certainly neither of us.

0 will do nothing to restrict world crude supply. It might impede his plan for bankrupting the domestic O & G industry.

This is about getting Assad and Russia out of Syria by all means at their disposal. Including the support of mad dog ISIS.
Clearing the way for energy to Europe that doesn’t come from Russia. Islamization of Europe is a byproduct.
