The July 5th problem: Trump will solve it

Of course Donald Trump is doing very well and doesn’t need any help; but the way he is mopping the floor with the “other guys” could actually present a small but real problem on his march to victory.

Those who have run local political campaigns, say for County Executive, have likely experienced or seen the problem of dealing with the down time between the county committee’s endorsement in April or May and the real campaign against a Democrat that starts unofficially the day after Labor Day. This can be called the July 5th problem.

If there is excitement about your candidate new people will pour “in” if indeed there is an “in.” To save money, often it is better not to even open an office until July 4th when your guy can capitalize on the patriotic spirit generated from the comparison with the Democrat.

The problem comes on July 5th, when lots of the new people, who want to do something to help your candidate, show up at 9: AM, assuming that this is when the office will open. Then your office manager, who was supposed to open the doors at 10: 00 AM, arrives at 10:30 AM. The new people ask what they can do and are handed a broom and asked to “straighten out the place.” By noon many are gone and never come back. They don’t understand that campaigning in the summer is usually...

Well, then tell him to get there by 8:00 AM and have the place ready to go by 9, or he's fired.

Agree. I have no idea why the office manager unilaterally shows up at 10:30 on a work day

Trump is already campaigning against the Democrats.
He’s repeatedly said Clinton should be in jail.
Called her a horrible secretary of state and pointed out that the world fell apart on her watch.
He called Sanders a maniac that was promising free everything.
He live tweeted the Democrats campaign.
By the time the GOP convention is here, the democrats are going to feel severely beaten.
And then Trump will start attacking for real.

The African Americans who sit near me at work are really worried.

All that free stuff.....there is a lot to lose.

Believe me they act out all day, I did not have to strain to hear they concern.

GO TRUMP! If he follows Conservatism to any degree it will benefit my neighbors more than they could ever realize, you see, I want all to be success like me, like I did it, through HARD WORK.

There’s plenty of reasons to be concerned about Trump’s policies; but I don’t think campaign operations are going to be one of his weaknesses.

Yeh I’m not worried about The Donald. As soon as he sews up the nomination he will start strafing runs on the Dem candidate if not before. You are right that he’s already doing it now. Hillary Clinton will not know what hit her when Trump starts the Twitter war on her.
