Dick, I may be able to help, but you have to answer some questions. It is clear that you can connect to the internet to use Free Republic. I am assuming that your connection is by having a Suddenlink Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) high-speed netwoek account. Is that so (yes or no).

How are you reaching this Free Republic site? Are you connecting using

(1) your wireless function of your router wired to a DSL high-speed modem, or

(2) using direct wired connection to the router with a cable, or

(3) connecting to the internet by connecting directly with a patch cable directly from your computer to the DSL modem to eliminate the router, or

(4) just using an old-style telephone modem without the wireless, without the DSL modem, and directly to the telephone line (which of course must have a filter on it).

Please tell me which type of connection of the above you are using.

Then tell me if this connects to the Suddenlink home page when you click on it:

http://www.suddenlink.com/

Click on the above

Then, please just give me the internet address for the home page of your bank, which will in no way compromise the security of your bank or of your account. Do this by using the private mail function of FR to send it. I will respond to that mail, telling you who I am, and establishing my credentialsm for your confidence. What I will try to do with that bank address is to try to get to the bank home page using my DSL line by connection of my computer(s) through my wireless router.

Another test is to see if you can get onto your bank’s home page by going to a local MacDonalds restaurant (or a local hotel/motel) that has WiFi, and connect with your wireless-equipped laptop through their system. Also try some other common web sites that normally work for you. That will produce some information from which conclusions can be drawn.
