As FDR believed they should be, and as they were before 1962. I know that some of you are going to call this an attention-getting stunt because Walker is struggling in the polls. Heres my response to that: A guy whos running for president should seek success in the polls by making solid, serious policy proposals. Thats what this is. And if anyone thinks hes not serious, they dont know Walkers governing history. He understands like few governors how the cycle of corruption works between public-employee unions and Democrats:
Unions fund Democrat candidates, who, once elected, offer generous compensation packages to union members so they can conscript more members and collect more dues so they can keep funding Democrat candidates, who, once elected . . . rinse, repeat.
I would go back to supervising in the Postal Service in a second if the union was declared illegal.
Even FDR opposed public sector union.
1) The wall and immigration reform
2) Kill Obamacare
3) Tax reform
4) Kill the government unions
That would be a fine first term for anyone.
OK, Walker has won me over. I now support him for Trump’s Sec. of Labor.
“It would be nice if Trump made note of this and (if elected) tried to make this happen.”
When Walker said this yesterday he rocketed up in my estimation of him. I think that a Trump Walker ticket might be a good one
I’d prefer Walker over Carson.
Nothing easier for a President to do:
A Republican President could do a big favor to taxpayers and to the country by revoking EO’s 10988 and 11491.
Executive Order 10988 is a United States presidential executive order issued by President John F. Kennedy on January 17, 1962 that recognized the right of federal employees to collective bargaining. This executive order was a breakthrough for public sector workers, who were not protected under the 1935 Wagner Act.
Executive Order 10988 was effectively replaced by President Richard Nixon’s Executive Order 11491 in 1969.
Stroke of the pen: federal unions gone!
I’m not a Walker fan, but I would prefer him over Carson, as well. Carson is dangerous. Cruz is first on my list.
Doesn’t sound like a big fight, just takes the will to do it. Walker did not let his intentions be known concerning unions when he was running for governor. Both his elections were on off election years when Democrat participation was low.
If Dems had known what he had planned, I think they would have showed up in droves to vote against him and he would not be governor.
By the same token, anyone who is the nominee and proposes this would likely lose the general. There are no lengths Dems won’t go to preserve the power that they have through unions.
“It would be nice if Trump made note of this and (if elected) tried to make this happen.
1) The wall and immigration reform
2) Kill Obamacare
3) Tax reform
4) Kill the government unions

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Agreed, with two comments
5) Make Scott Walker Sec Labor (as I and others have mentioned before)
While that would be a fine first term for anyone, I’ll wager Trump will get that done in 12 months. The wall may take longer to finish, but he’ll have plans on the table, all clearances and permits in force, and construction well underway.
In the recall election, the Dems pulled out all the stops, and did show up in droves. Walker won.
This is a winning issue.
Absolute no-brainer! Government unions should be illegal
Polling showed that Democrats did not show up in the numbers of a general election cycle during that recall. This will be like gasoline on a fire to Dems. The dead will vote like never before. Nationwide.
Exactly.
Conservatives only loose when liberals set the premise of the narrative.
I’m a Federal employee and I support this. It would have to be done in the right way, though; the Federal government would need to put in place ways to remove bad managers. Right now, multiple union grievances are about the only way to get a bad manager out of power.
On the other hand, unions preserve the jobs of hundreds of thousands of bad employees, so the costs of government unions outweighs the benefits.
HOORAY Scott Walker
That’s correct.
It only takes a new President the stroke of a pen to revoke those EO’s and end the federal government control by unions.
We have had 5 Republican Presidents since 1962. Which one took this simple action?
Obviously, none. Isn't that sad.
I am coming to my senses about the GOP. You have probably seen this, but just in case you haven't:
Yea. My parents were Republican Precinct Committeemen.
Walked the streets for Nixon in ‘68 with my mom. Quite boring. Lotsa no answer at the door.
Now they do it with robocalling.
Apathy is generated when nothing happens. For example, Randy Graf in Tucson was a sure thing to win the House Representative slot when the Bush family intentionally screwed him by paying for ads against him and recruiting a little kneepad boy to run against him.
He lost the nomination and Kneepads lost the general to Gabby Giffords in the pink dress.
The point is, why bother working in the trenches if garbage like the Bush family comes in and pulls a crude stunt like that on their own people?
That’s why there’s no enthusiasm for the boring but necessary political involvement. Besides, Republicans have jobs and businesses to attend to, but Rats don’t eat unless they’re getting other people’s taxes. That’s what energizes them to participate.
