New Obama executive order forces taxpayers to pay people not to work

Boss of the year.

We often criticize Barack Obama for never having run a business and not knowing anything about it. But maybe we’re missing something. Obama apparently believes he knows how to run every business in America that wants to be a federal contractor, because he is very fond of telling them how they have to run their companies as a condition for getting federal contracts

Oh, and by the way, these actions usually mean taxpayers will pay more and get less in federal contracting arrangements.

The latest example is a new executive order through which Obama requires that any company seeking a federal contract must offer employees up to seven paid sick days per year. If you dock employees pay when they’re out sick, or you offer to pay for fewer than seven sick days, sorry, you can’t get a federal contract.

I had unlimited sick days at Lazard :) Plus two personal days.

But they weren’t FORCED to give it to me.

They did it because of my good looks :)

Disclaimer” after four days out in a row you were put on ST disability.

Par for the course. Why should anyone have to — God Forbid — work to earn a living? These taxpayer automatons will simply continue working no matter how much we tax them so that the lazy class can live the good life without having to do anything other than walk into the voting booth and press the “D” button every once in a while.

As a self-employed engineer, I get unlimited sick and vacation days. Of course depending on how many days I take, my hourly rate goes down to the equivalent of a Bangladesh street urchin. The other good news is my taxes are really high. Cheers!

Owned a vending machine route in my 20s. Would get calls at all hours to come fix a broken machine.

Never told them I had a sick day that day :)

***...any company seeking a federal contract must offer employees up to seven paid sick days per year.***

If you get sick these are good. If you don’t, most employees will just use them as more vacation time.

You can bet they will be used up, sick or not.

Being born into the political/ruling class means, never having to work. Kinda like being a member of the welfare class except it pays better.

When I was in Abu Dhabi this summer for work, I spoke with a taxi driver from Bangladesh. They come over there on a work contract for various lengths of time. As they only get a portion of the fare, working long hours is required to make their stay worthwhile. This particular guy had not taken one day off for months and planned on working EVERYDAY for a year to make the money he needed to go back to Bangladesh and start a chicken farm (all the while sending money back to support his family). He said coming to the US would be his dream but it was impossible for him to get a visa. Obviously not the type of guy our State Department is looking to allow in the US.

I don’t see that as totally outrageous....but it should be negotiated between gov’t and contractor at the time the contract is proposed.

Yup. And I know several companies that have just combined all their sick, vacation, etc etc. into just plain pto. ONe of my buddies used to have 10 vac, 5 sick days. now he just gets I think 13 pto days.
