Trump has caught the tail of anger and disenfranchisement. If he stays the ride, it will propel him into 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
The only free market I see is us allowing other people to freely sell stuff here. In most places we try to sell stuff there are restrictions. Where are all the jobs NAFTA and other agreements were supposed to bring us? If the promises made by the unrestricted free trade people were right, we should have more jobs than we know what to do with. In case you haven’t noticed, that is not what happened. We have lost millions of jobs to other countries and our workforce participation is at record low levels. Maybe tariffs, especially to force other countries to play fair, would not be a bad thing.
I have looked over the field of candidates and tried to imagine what it would be like without Trump in the fray. Oh my - what a boring bunch of candidates. They are yawn worhty - just my opinion, of course.
I truly believe he feels duty bound to step up to the plate and take matters into his own hands, since it seems the GOP has not only let us down, but is actually working for the other side.

And this is what won me over. Trump has already announced a three tiered income tax, that's not quite the ideal, but I believe Forbes and Laffer will sell him on a better, flatter tax plan that also deals with foreign made profits and corporate taxes in general.
