Donald Trump and the Chick-fil-A effect (Vanity)
Vanity | 16 Aug 2015 | Oshkalaboomboom

I've been listening to the chattering political class on tv and radio lately and their consensus seems to be that what will be the derailment of the Trump express will be his lack of a political organization, the so-called "boots on the ground" that brings out the voters. It is what supposedly cost Mitt Romney the election, not the fact that he was a boring milquetoast. Personally I think that the Donald will benefit from what I call the Chick-fil-A effect.

Remember way back in 2012 when the chicken chain got tangled up in a Gay rights controversy? The Left was out for blood and did its best to put the chain out of business for its founder's daring to state in public that marriage was meant to be between a man and a woman. Yet a funny thing happened on the way to Chick-fil-A's funeral. People by the millions showed up to support the restaurants and basically crushed the boycott in spectacular fashion. Kudos to Mike Huckabee for creating a rallying point for the silent majority but the important lesson learned was that when people thought they could actually make a difference they will show up and show up in droves.

Now we have the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire Primary coming up, both supposedly events that require large amounts of organization and money. This is what the C of C, the GOP-E and its various RINO affiliates are banking on to finally shut Trump up and let the "real" candidates get on with the business of selling out our country. I personally see the people once again making a stand and sending a loud message that they are sick and tired of being stepped on by the elites. Donald may not be the perfect messenger but he is stepping into a perfect storm of anger and resentment against the political class and its cronies in the media.

My understanding is that his organization in Iowa is top notch. Yesterday it was reported that, of the “insurgents” Trump and Carson are in most of Iowa’s counties, but Fiorina is only in the cities, and needs to expand. Walker’s organization is also considered very good.

Absolutely right. If for once people think their vote will count they will turn out. Free chic sand for I voted sticker.

The Donald is a superior executive. The role of POTUS is “Executive.” He himself doesn’t need to know all the ins and outs of government. He surrounds himself with those who know the nuts and bolts of government and where the bodies are buried. The Executive has the Vision. Others do the grunt work. Does anyone seriously think The Donald can’t do that, and do it better than anyone has for decades?

It’d be nice to see a POTUS who’s not attracted to the office for its “perks.” The Donald already has his own private jet, his own private helicopter, his own resorts, his own security, etc., etc., etc. He doesn’t need to be suddenly nouveau riche and live the lifestyle on the taxpayers’ dime. He doesn’t need to take advantage of those perks as did the Clintons and as do the current occupants of 1600 PA Ave.

I have no idea if he’ll make it to or past IA and NH but I’m thrilled to see him challenge all the conventional wisdom.

Good points there. No doubt Donald is speaking how many of us feel and also he is exposing the establishment from both parties. The American people are waking up and Donald though not perfect he has been bluntly honest. That is what the people want. I understand he is leading in New Hampshire. I don’t listen to what the poll says, but it is what the people say. we had enough of this “be nice” crap that the GOPe has been espousing. Donald is a fresh of breath air.

This is why the establishment is pissed with Donald, because he tossed them a monkey wrench into the political race, and they don’t have a dam clue what to do. They were exposed and the people see it. Just like Chik-Fil-A the people will stand for what they see is right.

First, Trump has had a different approach to everything. He has just recently really ramped up NH and IA "boots on the ground"---see the article about the Trump staffers in IA last week that was posted here (I can't find it now, but it was center story on Drudge a few days ago). They had 1500 people show up just to talk with a staffer. I think they'll have no problems getting "boots on the ground."

Second, part of that different approach is timing. Because Trump is known, he doesn't have to "introduce" himself to voters, except to discuss some issues. I guess August isn't too early, but the caucuses are still a long ways away.

Anyway, Trump has Ed Rollins and some very good bare-knuckles advisers on his team, and I'm sure they know exactly how to run a ground game.

Trump being a successful businessman is a major plus in my opinion. He understands how we have exported entire industries overseas. He’s been making business deals himself both foreign and domestic for decades. He knows how to run a business. He understands how the economy works. He understand the impacts of taxation and regulation on the job market. He has personal knowledge of many of these areas which the current president and other candidates are clueless about. He’s willing to go up against political.correctness, which so few are willing to do. He’s willing to do something about illegal aliens, which due to.political correctness, we are supposed to support amnesty, otherwise be called bigoted and racist. He didn’t give a blank has no fear of being called racist or bigoted. He’s tapping into currents of opinion which other politicians are afraid to talk about.

The Reagan landslides in 1980 and 1984 were brought about due to energizing many of the people you speak about here.

When the choice is between two career politicians and the result is going to be the "same-old same-old" then people stay home and that is why the GOTV efforts is so critical for a campaign because in order to get people to the polls, you need to send a bunch of vans and buses around to collect elderly people and other shut-ins, enticing them with tea and cookies.

When people feel their vote will make a difference, they will find a way to get to the polling places.

I’m printing up Trump bumper stickers and will start handing them out next month. With my own money since he won’t take a contribution.

"The Donald is a superior executive."

If he'll spend most of his first term saying, "You're Fired" I'll be thrilled!
