“Instead of going after this, Trump decided to go the cheap ad hominem route.”

Trump acted reflexively, it seems, but his refusal to apologize and to double down on McCain's own failures in protecting veterans was IMHO politically the right move for him. His statement that those who served and did not get captured don't receive the attention that McCain gets is also a very valid observation. For me, anyone who puts the uniform on and puts their life on the line in any capacity is a hero.

I have watched this flak all weekend. I sincerely thank you for your military service Mr. McCain, but you are no hero, many of the true hero's never returned. The fact that you even allow anyone to call you that speaks volumes about your character.

Your tenure as a Senator leaves a lot to be desired, too bad JD Hayworth wasn't able to replace you years ago. I guess he is one of the crazies you will eagerly try to throw under a bus when you feel threatened or get egg on your face...

Mr Trump may not get the nomination in the end, however he will certainly not apologize and will make sure the Washington cartel is exposed!

Trump has my full respect.

Regardless of his past, the truth is coming out from him as its vessel. I respect the truth from wherever it flows.

You are a wise person to pray for discernment. We really need that everyday, don’t we?

I like Trump more all the time. Besides Cruz, he is the only one I could vote for. The rest are liberal or phony, or their actions and results don’t match their rhetoric.

With Cruz and Trump what you see is what you get. There’s no guile and deceit involved and that in itself is a big plus.

“I think he should remember Reagan’s 11th Commandment. He wants to attack his “fellow” (in quotes because his allegiance to any party is ephemeral) Republicans with vitriol and slander. He is like Don Rickles, not a serious political leader.”

John McCain attacked his fellow Republicans by the thousands, by calling those opposing illegal immigration and attending Trump’s AZ rally, “Crazies”.

Thank-you that was a very nice thing to say.

I covet wisdom and discernment in this essentially life and death matter for our Republic!!!

Some poeple are concerned that Trump isn’t responding to spiritual questions correctly.....

God will use who He will use....
As he did Cyrus for the displaced Jews of the Bible.

We are not to put our trust in man.......but I do believe God sends us men to help.......and goodness knows I have and countless others have been praying for mercy for our nation.

I hope God is using, will use Donald Trump.....perhaps Cruz.

add all of the Bushes into this

You are right. I thought about that even as I typed the condemnation of McCain.

No one paved the road for Obama more than Bush II did with his wild spending, tendency to listen to foolish sycophants and reckless drift toward sympathy with the left.

But with both the George Bushes you had to believe that they thought they had the country's best interests in mind.

McCain has only his own pride, bitterness and vengeance to pursue.

I'm no mind reader, but I'm not prepared to accept your premise that the Bushes are/were any less venal than McCain. It's a little difficult to give the benefit of the doubt and assume that anyone who wants to encourage the flow of illegal immigrants to this country has its "best interests in mind."

Well, they didn’t have my best interests in mind, that’s for sure, on immigration, spending, No Child Left Behind, on and on.

The Bushes might have been wrong, and wrongheaded, but I don’t think they were deliberately deceitful and destructive, as McCain has shown himself to be again and again.

Nobody is a villain in his own mind, I'm sure McCain has convinced himself that the policies he advocates are in the country's best interest too. Bad as he is, he doesn't sit around thinking "What can I do to wreck America today," so in that sense what you say about the Bushes is just as true of him. I'd say McCain is no better and no worse than the Bushes (in fact, I probably dislike him slightly less than I dislike Jeb).
