Corker-Obama Iran Policy: Another Republican Constitutional Traitor
Coach is Right ^ | 7/13/15 | Ed Wood

Under the terms of the Constitution, the president must persuade a two-thirds supermajority of senators to approve any binding agreements he may make with a foreign power. Of course, a president may legitimately make non-binding agreements as permitted under his power to conduct foreign affairs.

But to obligate the United States of America to any such agreement, a president must either persuade the Senate to ratify it as a treaty, or persuade the full Congress to pass a law accepting his agreement by ordinary legislation — a bill passed by a majority of both houses and signed into law by the president. So Mr. Obama’s agreements do not become binding unless approved by two-thirds of the Senate or a majority of the entire Congress.

Under the Constitution’s burden of persuasion requirement, the Administration’s Iranian deal is so unpopular it would not likely have a ghost of a chance of actually becoming law. But all that is changed.

Enter, again from stage left, Tennessee Senator Bob Corker, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and potential Jeb Bush vice-presidential running mate, with his “Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015″ — signed into law by President Obama on May 22, 2015. Now why would President Obama sign a bill that supposedly gives Congress control over his Iranian negotiations? As usual, the Devil is in the fine print.

Rather than forcing the President to persuade two-thirds of the Senate, or the Congress to approve whatever he and Secretary “Swift-Boat” Kerry cook up, the Corker legislation imposes on opponents of the deal the burden of persuading two-thirds of the full Congress to not approve it. In other words, President Obama’s agreements become law — unless rejected. See the difference? And even if Congress passes a resolution disapproving the Iran deal...

If Ted Cruz is elected President, Corker’s masterpiece will be flushed down the toilet.

Hopefully, in 2018 the voters of Tennessee will flush Mr. Corker out of office!

Most folks were all over the Corker scam when it went down. Everyone who voted for it is complicit and handed over their authority to Obama.

Are we expected to believe this is some kind of mistake? Are we to believe Sen. Corker did not know what he was doing?

No way. More likely, GOPe donors have interest in doing business with Iran.
