Common Core critics protest Jeb Bush speech in Tampa

Two hours before Jeb Bush was scheduled to address hundreds of people at the Hillsborough County Republican Lincoln Day dinner in Tampa, fifteen opponents of Common Core education standards stood outside the Pepin Hospitality protesting the former Florida Governor’s appearance.

“I’m against anything that nationalizes education,” said Emma Jane Miller, a former private school teacher from Valrico who helped organize the rally. She’s also a member of the Hillsborough County Republican Executive Committee, and said she was unhappy that she didn’t have a say so on who the party chose to headline their annual fundraising event.

“When Jeb Bush left Florida in 2006, he helped create the Foundation for Excellence in Education, and they have done nothing but push Common Core in 45 states , she said, referring to the education reform think tank the former Florida governor created when he left elected office nine years ago.

I went to several state board of education meetings in Texas when the left was actively involved in re-writing history and dumbing our kids down even further in math, science & English. The so-called majority of “conservative” board members had their secret marching orders and didn’t take parents seriously and this was when GW Bush was our governor.

I had a friend that managed to get in front of W and plead with him about the text books and he was completely indifferent to her and wasn’t interested in the many examples she put forth. The Bushes are not our friends. They are one-worlders and are following “the plan”.

I’m loving the fact that Jeb is having these protesters at his speeches and hope they continue to multiply. We DEFINITELY DON’T NEED HIM AS POTUS!!!!!

I have watched a child do ‘common core’ math on a 2nd grade level and it is INSANE. He doesn’t give a rip about our children. It’s all about the money and he has proved that he is a sleeze.

Dumbing our kids down,
Yes but ya gots to make it where no child is left behind, regardless of their lack of efforts to achieve or excell.
Same as lowering standards so blacks or woman or whoever can make the grade.
