Wastrels; seen wailing.
To spend, not their money,
But yours, for the children!
Eh, not a perfect haiku. :-)

Will a house seat in Illinois be wasted on the son of a
wastrel or can Flynn overcome son of LaThug?

Work went late after lunch yesterday, and I did an estimate this morning-
Obama acts just like a wastrel-
Plays golf and thumbs his nose
At us-taking OUR taxes for trips
And Michelle buys ugly clothes
He tells us not to use energy
From oil, or all will be lost-
Each vaca he takes burns a week
Worth of energy out the exhaust
Jimmy Carter was pretty clueless
But at least when he made a fuss
He turned down the heat in the WH
And didn’t act more equal than us...

When I got home from doing an estimate, I turned on the TV to see some news, and a cathedral full of people were mourning at the funeral Mass for Biden’s son who died of cancer-that was at about 11am. I turned off the TV, went about my business-turned it on an hour later, and there were generals giving speeches and awarding medals to the deceased-I thought he was a JAG officer-you would have thought some head of state had died-I half expected the pope to show up and canonize him right there.
Perhaps I’m being insensitive, but what is the point of all that public demonstration of grief, complete with Obama playing a role? I realize the man was too young to die, but is all that really considered tasteful or necessary?

I saw it as an opportunity to polish obama’s image. I don’t believe he wrote the eulogy he read, but it was a very nice one.

That is no doubt true-he is cynical enough to make even an occasion like that all about him, if he can-but it still seemed to me to be somewhat in bad taste-reminded me of that democrat/Wellstone funereally-all it lacked was the political speeches and cheering.

lemme get this strait.
The “someone” you mention was unable to have children but is now no longer unable to have children. They are therefor a wastral.
Don’t get it. Elucidate me.

Someone who was sterile — I thought this was a bit more obvious than “one who stopped washing with surgical scrub.” Punny lines are my specialty after all.

Sometimes I am so slow snails and turtles leave me in their wake. I even tried googling the word. Really very funny. I have been saving this for just such an occasion.
