For me, it just got worse. Control Data had just issued a brand new set of books. They were kinda like pamphlets with the lessons and problems to work out. Then in the back, the problem answers were given. Unbelievable number of mistakes. I was a couple weeks ahead of the rest of the class, and I corrected all the mistakes. Even got a letter from CD thanking me. My average was 100% on all the tests. I busted my butt. Instructor was leaving to go to the NASA Space Center at Cleveland Hopkons Airport. They wanted him to bring a student. He told me I was going with him. Job day, I didn’t even get interviewed. Instructor told me the govt. had to hire a minority student. They hired a Black girl. She was nice, and she was serious, but her average was in the low 80s. I went to work night shift in a sheet metal shop to pay my bills. What made it even harder to bear was that my Dad had worked at the NACA(now NASA) during WWll. I had told him I was going to work at NASA, and he was so happy!

What he is saying is that he wants a good old fashion Chicago / Baltimore Democrat Machine patronage job that pays tons of money without the inconvenience of actually having to show up at the job and do any actual work.

He doesn’t mean it. I’ve never been out of work more than 4 or 5 days because every car service and cab company is hiring Always. Night only make 7 bucks an hour but 7 times 80 Is 560, cash. Until something better comes along.
