probably ought to consult a dictionary from 1791, when the 10th amendment was ratified, giving the federal government only those powers delegated to it by the states or the people.

So the feds have no ‘rights’ either, just powers.

I still think that in the right context, the words could be considered synonymous.

I think we are agreeing here, with my prior post to you. It applies to both states’ and federal government. However...nobody in any part of government agrees with us; they think all power emanates from them.

I wasn’t being sarcastic with asking what your point was, BTW. I wanted it a bit clearer than sifting it from the definition you posted.
