Riverside and San Diego Counties require it. If you show up at school without it, you have to report to the County Health Dept and be given any missing shots, as well as a physical examination.
I know this as a matter of fact. After receiving guardianship of my grandchild, it was discovered she had never been to school. Therefore, she had to make the trip to County Health.

You probably could have gotten a waiver, had you requested it. (NOT that I’m suggesting you should have!) Or maybe it’s harder down there to get one. But it’s pretty easy here to get the waiver.
The government school officals lied to you. This is very common. You could have gotten a waiver just as easily as you could have in any other county.
No they didn’t. I’ve been a resident of this state long enough to know what that law says.
And .. why would I want a waiver ..?? I wanted my grandchild protected from all the childhood diseases I had to suffer through .. including Scarlet Fever.
You can take off the tin foil hat. All vaccines have injury and death rates that are nonzero. In the 80's Congress came up with a way to pay for those lawsuits, a no fault system. Without that payment system there would be no vaccines because the makers would be sued out of existence.

You know Shep is targeting conservative parents, especially “evangelical Christians”,
but it’s the granola munchers that started all the anti-vaccine movement.
Of course, that doesn’t mean diddly - they’ll still pin it on conservatives as a political issue, and as a way of dismissing their opinions and votes.
The immunity for most vaccinated diseases is something 99.9999% here in America. What that means is that your risk of getting the disease is less than the risk of side effects form the vaccination. Sad, but true. So the vaccinations must be a state or local requirement otherwise there would a risk aversion paradox or dilemna at work (I'm sure there is a name for it).

Please, spare us all the tin foil nonsense. As you may know, there are plenty of people spouting the line that there is “no risk” associated with vaccination.
Healthcare needs to get to the next level and identify and mitigate those risks.

You are correct that vaccines are not safe. But the negative cases are literally one in a million (deaths from vaccination). There is nothing medicine can do to change that fact. Getting vaccinated will always be unsafe compared to staying unvaccinated. The numbers are pretty simple. One in a million chance of death if you take a vaccine. But, for example for measles you have less than one in a million chance of getting it if you live in the US and stay unvaccinated. And even if you get measles you have only a 1 in 1000 chance of death.
Clearly staying unvaccinated is safer than getting the vaccine and it will always be that way. But that is only true because everyone else is vaccinated. OTOH the 1 in a million risk from vaccination is rather minor compared to other day-to-day risks like car crashes (1 in 10,000 chance of death per year).

I never said anything was secret. I was (and have been addressing) people that are ignorant to the risks of vaccines. They are real, and I believe it is time for us to do better.

Why not mitigate the known risks, instead of trying to tell people that there are no risks. (and just pay off families of kids who are harmed.)

I keep hearing that the autism link has been scientifically and thoroughly debunked. I keep thinking that they might just mean this in the same sense that Climate Change is “settled Science”.
