First stumbled across The Blasters in the movie, “Streets of Fire” when I was in the service in Germany. We wore that movie out, passing it around.

The Blasters are one of those bands who (I firmly believe) should be a lot more successful and famous than they are and because of that, I lack confidence in our society’s opinion of “good” music.

Dave Alvin is a Great Singer/Songwriter (as is his brother, Phil). His latest Album is more AmericanA, than Rockabilly. It is very good, it is titled: 11/11 or maybe Eleven Eleven.

Heres, Harlen County Line

Another example of that is the Dixie Dregs band that came out of Georgia. Southern-fried jazz-fusion? It worked better than you might think.

That’s a pretty gritty tune. I listened to the other songs and you’re right, definitely Americana.
