The cheaper gas will provide some price relief as lower transportation costs work their way through the economyDoubtful prices will come down. They know people will pay the already inflated food and consumer prices so they'll keep them high and go higher. Example the price of beef. Prices should have gone down due to ranchers having to practically give away their herds during the drought but prices increased. Prices rose, as they should, while ranchers were restocking after the drought. Now that herds are back where they were before the drought, prices are skyrocketing.

They’re already talking US$2.29/US gallon for regular unleaded in Sacramento, CA by Christmas Day. Dirt-cheap consider California’s unique formulation for gasoline.

It was 17 cents when I was in school. I remember swearing I’d never pay 32 cents. Never say never.

Your area has more competitive prices. A gasbuddy.com post half an hour ago shows the nearest to me is still at $2.23.

If they did Cap N Tax nationally it might have been a successful fakeout as the govt planned to blame all the price increases on greedy oil companies and utilities.
But having it only in California, the folks may look across the state borders and wonder....
