AirBnB.Com, Uber.Com:

If you own a house or car, should you be free to do what you want with it? If your plans for your personal property include making money, then you may find out the hard way that, no, you can’t do as you wish.

That’s the harsh lesson being learned by many Americans as they participate in the new, burgeoning freelance services industries.

Consider Raleigh, North Carolina resident Gregg Stebben. He and his wife Jodi are registered as service providers with AirBnB.Com, the new online venture that matches travelers in search of lodging with private homes, extra bedrooms and couches for rent.

Big government doles out monopolies to the highest-bidding big corporations and big unions. Now that’s the system, Mr. Reardon, that’s the game, and once you understand it, you’ll be much easier to deal with.” — Ayn Rand paraphrase

Business is becoming more streamlined anyway; most are going into business for themselves rather than making the mistake of slaving through university and throwing their lives away on a huge business that will chew them up and spit them out.

Here is the actual quote, in case there is any confusion.

“Did you really think we want those laws observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with.” ― Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

It’s really sad how many people out there believe you become public property just because you start a business. What’s even more sad is they don’t provide any rational reason for it, but simply say “It’s the law”.
