Thousands of people have resigned from the Lutheran Church in Finland, after the nation’s parliament approved a same-sex marriage law and the church’s archbishop expressed support for the vote, Finland’s Yle News reported.

By late Saturday, around 7,800 people had officially resigned from the state-supported Lutheran Church via an online service, which was specifically created to ease the registration process.

The resignation frees the individuals from obligatory church membership taxes, which is where the majority of the Lutheran Church’s income comes from. By the end of 2013, some 75 percent of Finns – 4.1 million people – were listed as members of the church.

Wow, obligatory taxes for a state run church, kind of reminds me of Obamacare...

No more tithes when you bend over forwards for the faggots. End of church. Take note other churches.

About 8 years ago I witnessed hundreds of Episcopalians in Seattle leave their Church and join the Orthodox Church for the reason that the Orthodox Liturgy has not changed in nearly 2000 years.

1 Kings 19:18 Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.

Romans 11:4 But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.

They are in good company and will be remembered by God.

I’m well into old age and I’ve come to learn - the hard way - that homosexuality is genetically passed on within the human race.

I understand it is a matter of principle (and I support them) but 8,000 leaving out of 4.1 million is not going to greatly damage the state-collected finances of the Lutheran Church of Finland.

(The article is unclear whether membership is 4.1 million or it is 75% of 4.1 million total Finns.)

Yeah, but just think of all the gay members they will add!

Churches are a funny piece of work sometimes. For years I was told I would go to hell for eating meat on Friday. Then suddenly I was told it was fine.

I immediately wondered about all the poor people who had eaten meat the Friday before my Catholic Church changed its mind.

Which led to me wonder how men (Church hierarchy) could send me to hell or not at their whim.

Which led to me leaving organized religion as I realized organized religion has no purpose related to next plane, and can only operate on this plane. And since earthly churches are run by men, they are doomed to introduce error. If they didn’t intorduce error, they would never change.

Best to go straight to the Source, I decided. Much more dependable.

that homosexuality is genetically passed on within the human race.

There is no evidence for your belief. Homosexuality is sin, and yes sin is a human trait.

Unfortunately, when the court ruled in favor of gay marriage in Wisconsin, Scott Walker accepted the ruling and did not appeal.
