Amendment 2 - Right to Bear Arms. Ratified 12/15/1791. Note

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Jay`s 1794 Treaty between Great Britain and U.S. defines the term “arms’ of the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution of only 3 years earlier and lists them each by name:

“Jay’s Treaty — 1794
Treaty of Amity, Commerce and Navigation

Concluded November 19, 1794; ratification advised by the senate with amendment June 24, 1795; ratified by the President; ratifications exchanged October 28, 1795; proclaimed February 29, 1796

“ARTICLE XVIII.

In order to regulate what is in future to be esteemed contraband of war,
it is agreed that under the said denomination shall be comprised all arms and implements serving for the purposes of war, by land or sea, such as cannon, muskets, mortars, petards, bombs, grenades, carcasses, saucisses, carriages for cannon, musketrests, bandoliers, gunpowder, match, saltpetre, ball, pikes, swords, headpieces, cuirasses, halberts, lances, javelins, horsefurniture, holsters, belts, and generally all other
implements of war,”

horsefurniture,

I know my saddle is heavy, and has a scabbard, but I never figured it as an arm.

Hope it happens and thousands are exercising open carry in the state capitol. This will make the Austin libs heads explode.

A lot of even Austin libs are pro Second Amendment, even though they don’t vote like it.
I think now is the time for Texas to go all the way with as much pro carry legislation possible and constitutional carry.
That includes removing the restrictions on where guns can be carried.

Not so much if you have a 36" waist. Give up. Concealed with anything bigger than a .22 Jennings is STUPID for me.

I won't carry a purse, it clashes with my beard.

I want Constitutional open carry.

That was a little before my time. I'm just wondering what of my horsefurniture could be considered an 'Arm'.

My Great-Grandfather was smart. He spent the war in the Union Navy.

He drowned about 35 years later during a log drive down the Mississippi (near Minneapolis) at age 65.

I hear the Ruger LCP is nice. It is about that size...

I love the constitutional carry we fought for and have here in Arizona. Come one in, the water is fine!

We worked hard for it here in Arizona, and it was worth every hour, every penny, and every drop of sweat.

Some people I know of ended up with unearned felonies and years in jail in the process. That still burns.
