Same-sex marriages begin in Virginia

RICHMOND — The Supreme Court on Monday effectively allowed same-sex marriage to go forward in Virginia, deciding not to take up a Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that overturned the commonwealth’s ban on same-sex marriages.

The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals issued a mandate to remove the last barrier to same-sex marriage in Virginia. The first same-sex marriages were performed in Charlottesville and Richmond shortly after 1 p.m.

At the same time, the commonwealth recognized marriages already performed in states as legal.

---snip---

Virginia state Del. Bob Marshall (R-Prince William), co-author of the state’s marriage ban, decried the move in a statement and predicted that “marriage will soon include polygamy, or threesomes, leaving innocent children to suffer the consequences.”(continued)

I heard a bit of the “marriage ceremony” on the radio. The ‘clergy person’ said, “By the power first granted to me by God” - or something like that - and by the commonwealth of Virginia..... Trying to make this seem like this is ok with the Christian faith.

I will never acknowledge them and neither will God. The courts and my fellow loser countrymen who claim the libertarian stance can KMA.

Given a choice, I would have prefered seeing invading Soviet tanks coming across the countryside than having to live to see this descent into deviancy. Because what this demonstrates is that my own country, the USA, has become a truly sick and truly degenerate nation. The moral rot has taken over, and turned this country into a genuinely evil entity. The opposite of everything it once was.

A country that equates two perverted homos as being the same as a husband and wife is a country that I will never fight for, or lift a finger, to preserve.

We are no longer a free people.

We are the subjects of an Imperial President and a dictatorial judiciary.

Interesting how these cases came about.

Rather than take up the issue of homosexual marriage again, the Supreme Court declined to take up the issue, but also declined to issue stays on the lower court orders.

So the net effect is that homosexual marriage begins today in many states, in the circuits covered by these lower court rulings.

By choosing not to make a decision, the Supreme Court made a decision to let homosexual marriage spread from 19 to as many as 30 states.

Why don’t they have the guts to come out and say they believe that there is a constitutional right to homosexual marriage?

Instead, they have chosen a back door, low impact method of allowing homosexual marriage to take root in more and more places, without deciding a damn thing on the constitutionality of the core issue.

Now the homos will have to deal with divorce lawyers, spousal support, community property, etc.

I agree but that is not a new thing. It’s been like that for decades now.

More importantly, their children will have to (as they do already) deal with the dysfunction that comes with growing up with homosexual parents, which is at about the same level of magnitude as growing up with alcoholic or drug abusing parents.

And the state and society will suffer the increased societal dysfunction which comes from another portion of a percent or so of men and women who do not join the stability of heterosexual marriage and family.

Courts don’t make law. And laws or court opinions that violate the laws of nature and nature’s God, or the Constitution, are null and void. Understand this, and live it out in politics, or lose America.

The reason is because it is a long held SCOTUS maxim to let societal changes happen slowly. Be assured they will approve it Nationwide at some point. That is as sure as the sun shining. But Justices, regardless of political leanings, will act this way. Not even 4 Justices voted to hear it. They didn’t leave those Circuit Court decisions in place to rule against Gay “marriage” later.

They MAY take it up this term if another Circuit rules the other way but just don’t see any remaining Circuit doing that ... at least not en banc anyway. Lower Court Judges know EXACTLY what SCOTUS is doing and they will not go against them.

Exactly what I thought. They didn’t leave these lower court decisions intact, just to overturn them later on. Barring a huge turnover of membership on the Supreme Court, and staunch conservatives replacing liberals there, these marriages will never be overturned.

So I think the Court made a decision to allow the spread of homosexual marriage, for whatever silent reasons. They didn’t want to have another round of oral arguments and have to rule themselves. We know from last year’s cases that there are five justices out of nine on the Court who are in favor of homosexual marriage. So it seems to me they want to facilitate the spread to more and more states, without having to rule themselves at this time.

Shame on Virginia? Virginia voted several years ago for a ban on gay marriage and in defense of marriage being defined as between one man and one woman. It wasn’t Virginia that did this. It was some liberal federal judge who struck down the ban, just like in so many other states. I am so sick and tired of these judges legislating from the bench and overturning the will of the people.
