Michael Brown protesters interrupted the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra's concert on Saturday night, causing a brief delay in the performance at Powell Symphony Hall.
The orchestra and chorus were preparing to perform Johannes Brahms' Requiem just after intermission when two audience members in the middle aisle on the main floor began singing an old civil rights tune, "Which Side are You on?" They soon were joined, in harmony, by other protesters, who stood at seats in various locations on the main floor and in the balcony.
The protesters then unfurled three hand-painted banners and hung them from the Dress Circle boxes. One banner listed the birth and death date of Brown, who was shot by Ferguson police Officer Darren Wilson on Aug. 9.
The five-minute interruption was met with a smattering of applause from some audience members, as well as members of the orchestra and chorus....

You applaud that sort of behavior, you can expect more of it.
That’s a Good Question.
I hope they were arrested.
Doesn’t sound like it. The story seems to say that they just got up and left.
And the point of this performance was?
“Since I know they didn’t pay for those tickets, I wonder who did?”
My bet is on Acorn using whatever name it calls itself these days.
I’m sure that the St. Louis Symphony is much like the Kansas City Symphony where I have been a subscriber for years. Those ladies wearing all the bangles are rich and powerful, you do not want to piss them off. And you are very unlikely to intimidate or shame them. If it was a fundraising stunt, my guess is that it won’t work very well.
Ya, what’s up with that? The audience applauded? Why? To prove how liberal they are? What the heck???
Allegedly shot by Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson.
If they're going to report that that guy in Oklahoma "allegedly" beheaded his coworker....
Probably gets a lot of tax funding
In the middle of a Stockhausen piece. They just thought it was the end.
Bunch of guilt-ridden, rich, white Liberal a-holes.
To cause white people to applaud out of their sense of white guilt.
It’s just the usual bulling tactics of these race whores.
Like the black kids from across town bused into my junior high, the ones who shook me down for lunch every day until I fought back and got my ass kicked.
They did leave me alone after that though.
Liberals just never fight back unless they can get a consensus but of course, that would be racist.
Did you notice that my last sentence also described RINOs accurately too.
It looked like a few Democrat Party activists created an event for the media.
It was clearly a contrived event by very few people designed to get publicity.
Democrats interrupting Democrats. The left is disintegrating before our eyes.
True. As usual, publicity not to persuade through reason, but rather through intimidation.
I can’t speak for St. Louis. Missouri has an Arts Trust Fund that is funded by a percentage of tax revenues from out of state professional sports teams. The KC Symphony gets a very small payout from this fund, but because the Symphony is in Missouri and many of the patrons live in Kansas, tax dollars aren’t really part of the equation. If you want music, you pay for it and that’s the way it ought to be. Rap fans and Country music lovers shouldn’t be subsidizing classical music. In KC, they don’t.
And yeah, and whose to say that it wasn’t done at the strong “urging” of a perpetually incensed ABM.
Man some of these people are confused about the justice system and due process.
