WHICH CRUISE?

Posted on 09/23/2014 5:49:54 AM PDT by DIRTYSECRET

San Diego dittos! I can pay $1600 to go on a Mexican Rivieria cruise right out of my home port or FLY across the country to take the National Review Cruise for $3100. In the aftermath of what is expected to be a wave election I could enjoy the victorious company of like-minded conservatives. Negatives would be 2 full days of flying and dealing with the TSA. Since the GOP is run by idiots is it worth it? My friends you decide. Thanks.

I’d rather go on a Hillsdale cruise; it’s educational, and I’d be surrounded by genuinely interesting people.

We took the Mex. Rivera cruise out of San Diego (the 10 day one ending at Acapulco) spent a total of 4 days at sea, during which we took classes in Photo Shop. Worth it for a relaxing time in January with "like-minded friends."

As to twice the price (for starters) with NR, no way! I gave up my subscription with them years ago when they so insulted me by their lefty political garbage spewing rag, so I'd not pay one cent to rub elbows with whom they taut as "conservative speakers" ala Geo. Will, John Fund, Rich Lowry, Jonah Goldberg, et al!

It's enough to listen to their blather for FREE on FNC!

Question with a question:

Why do an appalling number of conservatives continue to hypocritically support the Mexican economy by vacationing there? Let alone domestic liberal bastions of support?

The answer is in your own posting, your own words...

Anyone that leaves this country is tempting fate. There is no place outside our borders I care to see anymore. Plus I cannot carry so I don’t go.

One advantage of taking a cruise is that your luggage is not limited. If you fly, you have to follow all the airline restrictions on luggage, plus run the risk of having your luggage delayed or lost.

On the other hand, if that cruise you have to fly to is a dream vacation, you'll always wonder what it would have been like. Perhaps you could check with them and see if they have any cruise in the near future scheduled from the west coast.

Personally, I don’t want to go anywhere near Mexico, but on the other hand, I wouldn’t like spending X days living and breathing politics either. And there is a definite possibility the Republicans will blow their chances of taking back the Senate. Do you want to be miserable hanging around with other miserable people for all those days? Regardless of who wins, I’d like to just forget politics and the news and just have fun.

Look around more. Depending on time of year, destination and location of the cabin, there can be a ton of even better deals from an assortment of cruise lines out there. By the way, you aren’t required to take an air/sea package. Book the cruise only and find a nonstop from SD to the embarkation point.

Whatever you decide, have a very good time!

I’ll second that. Take an Alaskan cruise. Lots of fun and not supporting the illegal invasion source.

I despise cruises.

Stuck on a ship with 2,000 other folks. I know, it’s me. I just don’t find them relaxing.

There are plenty of great places to go in the US.

But again, I know most people like Ocean/beach vacations. Just not I.

The Mexican Riviera Cruise is nice, been there. Loved it. Be aware that there are folks having a Drug war down there and while you are not the target there have been HOSTAGES taken and ransom paid by folks here in the US. With that being said. I have also cruised the Atlantic to the Bahamas and out to St. Croix/ St. Thomas. Both beautiful cruises out of FLA. Your pleasure will be affected by the age and the size of your ship you cruise along with the company you choose. Celebrity is a PARTY BOAT. For the younger crowd. Royal Caribbean caters more to the middle age/ almost 40 group. Still some party mixed with moments of quiet and a good kids program. We have taken our grandkids (pre-teen) and they enjoyed it along with quiet time for adults when they are in their youth group functions. I personally like Celebrity, they seem a cut above Royal Caribbean and If you are only Adults traveling you will love them. Again pick the biggest boat and the newest boat to maximize the amenities!!! Happy Cruising!

You can associate with conservatives at other forums. The prices for cruises you cite are way too high:
