Marco Rubio: Let’s Reject The Veiled Isolationism Of Obama And Clinton Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Google PlusShare via EmailMore Options

By Marco Rubio September 12 Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) is a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.

President Obama’s call on Wednesday for the United States to lead an international military campaign in the Middle East has the potential to begin a departure from the isolationism that he and former secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton have advocated during their years in office. There is a risk, however, that the president’s focus on a counterterrorism campaign akin to those waged in Yemen and Somalia, and his reliance on regional partners to deal with the challenge posed by the Islamic State, could lead to the continuation of what has been the most disengaged presidential foreign policy in modern American history.

Obama is a Sunni, who wants the Sunni rebels and Sunni ISIS to take over the whole area. I wonder if there is a politician who has the guts to tell the truth on this.

Isolationism? How many foreign governments have been overthrown during Obama’s administration.

Isolationism? How many foreign governments have been overthrown during Obama’s administration.

So then all overthrown governments during the Obama administration are the result of Obama?

LOL.

Either we are going to convert the region or we let them kill each other like in Africa. I dont understand this sorta foreign policy our congress have. The house should propose war on the middle east and divide the region to religious beliefs.
Separating each country into resource viable entities.

Were that Obama and Clinton were simply isolationists, but that is far from the truth, they have been actively working to aid and abet the Islamic revolution in the Middle East, starting with Egypt and Libya.

They called it the Arab Spring, to paint a kinder, gentler picture, to manipulate the optics, as they would say, and present their own false narrative to describe the reality of the coming violence, but they knew.

There are no moderate rebels, there are only Islamic terrorists and ruthless ruling families, desperate to hold onto their power and wealth. The give away, the tell, on Obama’s real position on the violence in the Middle East is that Obama has repeatedly refused to take any action at all until his own poll numbers threaten to take down the Democrat control of the Senate.

That’s true - but he only overthrows our allies.

Not nonsense to me. Both Obama and Clinton were into declaring war on their own without Congress when it became politically expedient but deciding that the US should go into passivity mode otherwise.

Remember Bosnia? And remember the fact that if BJ Clinton had seriously paid attention to the Middle East, 9/11 would probably never have happened.

Obama isolates us from our allies (look how he hates the Brits and in fact all Europeans and non-leftist Latin Americans) and exposes us to our enemies.

Isolationism sounds pretty good to me, Rube.

The US has squandered its time, talent, and treasure on the rest of the world for generations with very little return on the investment. We have significant problems here at home to deal with—Screw everyone else.
