I get upset when certain FReepers mischaracterize my Church because of the (comparatively) recent actions of bad people. It would be equally wrong to say that America's founding concepts, popular beliefs, and history favor Socialism because Harry Reid and Barack Obama have been elected to positions of power.
The Catholic church kinda reminds me of communism. Its flock is supposed to just follow the leaders. And the leaders have been wrong for America for years. We cannot absorb the world and most of the world live in conditions that they created and were unwilling to make changes. The church is disobeying our laws and yet they live in America’s success.
Speaker “Blank Check” Boehner keeps “Free for All” Obama in power by not controlling spending or Impeaching Obama.
“Gridlock” Reid shuts down the DEMOCRAT BROTHERHOOD GOVERNMENT, (DBG), anytime that Boehner refuses to write Obama a Blank Check.
“Free for All” Obama is more than happy to play hooky from his day job and fly around on the taxpayer’s dime to raise Campaign money for “Gridlock” Reid’s Senate Candidates, and the DBG.
“Blank Check” Boehner is the key man to allow “Free for All” Obama to continue to fundamentally transform America, and Obama knows it.
Force Boehner to resign, and Obama will be at the mercy of New Speaker Jim Jordan or Trey Gowdy.
Keep Boehner as Speaker and there is very little reason to expect Mid-Term Voters to find an effective difference between Republicans and Democrats.
Otherwise like I said. To her I say, Thank You Captain Obvious!

The author’s first mistake was assuming the USCCB consitently reflect Catholic teaching.
There is a battle against the Enemy in the Church, for sure. Thankfully, our Lord is aware of it, for a time permits it, warned us of it and most assuredly will judge her errors to the last man.
There was never any other way but the Way of the Cross, for Jesus Christ or His Church, but martyred. “It is a fearsome thing to fall into the hands of the Lord.”

I find myself grinding my teeth a lot these days.
I asked a priest friend of mine. Solid Conservative, Republican voting why he did just not flat out tell the other half they were idiots? He said they are not to be overtly political. Many of the more conservative bishops know they are being watched. The government would love to get rid of the conservative bishops.
Far fetched? Think back to the Church in Poland under the Nazi's and the Communists.

If by the "leaders" you mean the clergy, our clergy have "competence" only in the areas of holding and teaching the Holy Ffaith passed on by the apostles: that is, doctrine and morals: not politics and public policy. The trick is to get Bishops to preach and practice Catholic faith and morals.
The troubles --- and they are huge --- always occur when Catholic are not being Catholic enough.
