This is nothing more or less than a complete vanity. My sixth book is out today and I am thrilled with it. I started my journey as a self-published writer just over two years ago and look forward to doing this as a career for the next few decades.
My latest novel is called 'EMP':
In a flash of searing light, the world changed. A massive solar flare has crippled the modern world and brought chaos and destruction. David Hartsman is stuck in the remote farm town of his youth on what was expected to be a short visit to check on his ailing parents. While his wife and his daughter are hundreds of miles away at home in Chicago, David must face the dangers associated with his own survival and the pressures of not being with his family. In a worldwide catastrophe, every struggle is personal.
EMP is the dramatic story of one man and his struggle for survival in a world that is falling apart.
There is nothing to lose by writing a fun story. Write it and then write another. The world needs more stories.
Well done in writing a book. Even more so six!
Let me ask you this, regarding: “I started my journey as a self-published writer just over two years ago and look forward to doing this as a career for the next few decades.”
Self-published and career traditionally haven’t gone together.
Are you able to make money on the books?
I think you get 70% of profits from Amazon publishing.
Please correct me if I’m wrong.(anyone)
Not enough to support myself yet, but it’s moving that way. With each book out, I build my base of fans, build my e-mail notification list, and see an uptick in monthly sales.
The best way to sell a book is to write the next book. If you want it to be a long term career, you need to keep writing as if you have a long term career. My life goal is to write 100 novels before I semi-retire in my 60s.
Congratulations. Writing a book and putting it in front of people takes more bravery than I have right now.

At Amazon, if your books are listed for $2.99 or more, you get 70% royalties. If it is listed below that, you get 35% royalties.
Other places have different rates, but it is within the same range.
Cool.
I have 10 books out on Amazon now, scifi and PAW themed. It is fun to write and then get feedback from folks that enjoy the story. (World of the Chernyi)
I started to keep my writing skills (I do tech writing) and it turned out to be great fun.
Congrats!
As a fellow author (at least aspiring), Congrats!
Thank you.
How cool is that. Hope I can get it on my kindle will suggest it to my book club. Ever mention free republic or is that not allowed?
PAW?
Where can you get it?
“My life goal is to write 100 novels before I semi-retire in my 60s.”
Wow. How old are you! Must be young still.
My goal is to write one novel.
Being mentioned to a book club would be great! Thank you!
William R. Forstchen might like this book.
I just turned 44, but my hope is to increase my daily writing so I can finish 4 to 5 books a year. I’m getting there.
bump
I can’t buy a book at the moment. But I will put it on my “wish list”. This sounds like a different character and place but the same kind of thing as “One Second Later” or whatever it was called.
Sounds like a great idea.
Actually different books from different POV based in the same “universe” would be interesting.
Is there a minimum length of a story for Amazon?
You should post a link when you find it on Amazon.
