Religious activists push back against immigration crackdown

Fender benders and minor traffic stops aren't supposed to send someone to jail. But that's the risk faced by immigrants living in Palm Beach County without U.S. citizenship, local religious activists say.

A coalition of nearly 30 religious congregations maintains that too often identification problems and citizenship questions result in the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office taking someone to jail who otherwise just would have faced a ticket or a requirement to appear in court.People Engaged in Active Community Efforts, or PEACE, maintains that jailing immigrants after minor traffic offenses because of citizenship questions is unfair, adds costs for taxpayers and breeds fear among immigrant communities, making people in those communities less likely to cooperate with law enforcement.

PEACE is calling for Sheriff Ric Bradshaw to make changes so that fewer interactions between immigrants and sheriff's deputies lead to deportations that separate families.

"It is part of an effort to break down that barrier of fear of the sheriff," said Jill Hanson of PEACE.

Bradshaw met with PEACE representatives in June and asked for time to consider the proposals.

The Sheriff's Office remains in the "early stages of discussion" with PEACE, spokeswoman Teri Barbera said.

Barbera said the Sheriff's Office would not answer questions about immigrant identification issues or how many people are jailed for imigration issues.

So the coalition of nearly 30 religious congregations thinks illegals caught driving without license/insurance should receive a ticket and be free to carry on driving ?And if an illegal causes major accident, causing major damage to your car.You will be stuck with using your insurance to fix it and your rates will increase. Why do these leaders think consular identification cards should be used valid legal identification for said person when document fraud makers churn out them all day long.Foreign passports of which have expired and are no longer any good but they want it to be accepted as legal identification anyway ? What is proof of a local address, the identification card that comes with wallet that you fill out with name and address so whoever finds your wallet will return it to you ??

I have already been made aware of so-called “religous groups” supposedly fighting deportation and have found several of them to be real, however I have noticed one common denominator with them. They seem to have unusually large endowment funds and I suspect that at least one of that money might have one from the government and it makes me wonder if someone is now calling in favors in return. Just a thought...

“Religious Activist” groups are nothing but leftist front groups. Communists and other devotees of Marx & Obama camouflage themselves by giving themselves names like “Mothers For A Better World” or “Innocent Children For Peace.” The ghost of Willi Munzenberg stands at their shoulders.

When “religious activism” violates the rights of citizens and Constitutional law, it is no longer “religious”; it is “political activism” and enemy action.

Those "300 migrants" at the local shelter/facility/church are a different 300 every couple of days, as they are being bused and jetted across the USA.
