I don't seek out media appearances but last week was a busy one for me. I was interviewed by CBS News, BBC World Service, Jonathan Green of Australian Broadcasting Corporation's Sunday Extra, and by Piya Chattopadhyay of the CBC's The Current. I also had invitations from NPR and CTV that I, unfortunately, had to turn down due to time constraints. It was a busy week but thankfully all of the journalists, hosts and producers who reached out to me had a sincere interest in complex stories. They are my kind of people so talking to them was actually quite fun.

I wonder how many on Free Republic have actually visited Intercept and read the documents from Snowden’s dump.

Here are a couple of links I found interesting:
https://firstlook.org/theintercept/document/2014/03/12/nsa-phishing-tactics-man-middle-attacks/
https://firstlook.org/theintercept/document/2014/02/18/psychology-new-kind-sigdev/

Check out Squeaky Dolphin

They are right in line with this thread. The problem I see is that we know the powers that be have no problem planting operatives to goad actions like Fast and Furious domestically. We would hope they are doing the same and much worst to these orgazinations.

But then we are faced with the IRS and realize how easily these powers can be turned against any selected group. Republican or Democrat did not use to matter. Both were American. Now it is starting to appear, neither is, they are power centers, joined in dominating free citizens through tossing crumbs for reward and an iron boot when needed. They KNOW how to thread the needle. They know how to keep us at the keyboards and out of the streets.

I used to fear a knock at the door. I now know I will never see it comming.

“ISIS, although far more dangerous and disturbing, has swept into the public consciousness in much the same way as LulzSec. Their spectacular success on the ground has been augmented by a clever, well-orchestrated, social media campaign....They understand the quirky humor and leverage it to their advantage.”

“So that five year expansion plan is equal parts wildly optimistic recruit bait, psychological warfare and outright trolling.”

Well, let’s connect a few dots. The feds now have the hacker’s code and tactics. The feds are controlled by the administration. The administration funds the rebels, who are by no means this advanced tech wise and, really, a sense of humor?????? The feds do the tech work and do the media blitz FOR the rebels. And, the psych warfare is an absolute forte of this administration.

Makes sense to me.

Actually, “then shut them down and locked them up” in a building with super servers, and told them what needed to be done for ISIS.

I honestly question the really utility of all this electronic tracking.

This Andriod app that replicates the tweets may well serve as “chaff”, we may think you are identifying all these sympathizers when the real zealous sympathizers can now hide comfortably in the crowd. (You can identify every teenager that owns a che Guevara t-shirt, but explain to me how that will help you fight communism.) Arguably, you can’t stop the proliferation of these jihadist messages...but it’s too easy to thing this is a intelligence boon when all your really doing is watching ever larger networks of jihadist influence assemble and identifying the real zealous members will get exponential more difficult.

If I’m a terrorist or drug/arm/people trafficker and I have any sophistication at all I’m going to be employing counter intelligence, disinformation and single use codes. If I’m really good, I’m going to setup my rivals.

We constantly hear “real time” intelligence taughted and it’s very seductive like an episode of the series “24” -which I loved. But, I work as an engineer in transportation and have seen efforts to understand incredibly complex systems in a real time snap shot -it’s virtually impossible when the system is made up of human actors.

No, I don’t believe all this surveillance has much utility until it’s turned on us -as it is being. They’ve got a shiny new hammer and everything looks like a nail.
