The win of Sen. W. Thad Cochran over state Sen. Christopher B. McDaniel in the June 24 GOP Mississippi Senate Primary runoff by less than 5,000 votes is a pyrrhic victory for the Republican establishment.

Anyone could vote in this primary. Democrats are the ones that won it for Thad.

MS has open primaries.

Surprised to see that the NRA

The NRA supported gun-grabbing socialist Joe "Rat Bastard" Manchin for US Senate in West Virginia.

Twice.

Never underestimate the duplicity of national lobbying groups. Their purpose is not to promote some ideology or cause, their purpose is to exist.

Precisely.

And also, McDaniel running as an Independent is a giant middle finger to the RINOs from the Tea Party and all Conservatives - the SAME people that Cochran just gave a giant middle finger to by calling in Democrats to save his arse.

The Old Days are over. No more free rides for the GOP-e and taking the Conservative base for granted

It's time to deny the liberal republicans a senate majority.

Well, I don't have a problem with that statement, except:

>> It's time to deny the liberal Republicans a Senate majority. <<

As long as the republicans have the majority in both Houses of Congress and the "liberal Republicans" are in the minority of those cockeye.

I understand. I really do, but this is a long “war”. We were not going to change this country overnight. If we didn’t have such a horrible outlook for 2016 in the Senate where even if we win in 2014, we could lose it again in 2016, I would be all over “letting the Democrats win”, but I just think it is dangerous. The only person I want to see lose the primary this year is Paul Ryan.....I so hope it happens, but I doubt it will. He has turned into the biggest snake I have ever seen with regards to Veterans.

A write in campaign CAN win.

Look at the June 3 results here:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-tran/elections/2014-primaries-june3

(Mississippi results are down the page)

Notice the top vote getter that night was McDaniel. The ENTIRE Democrat slate didn’t get HALF the votes of EITHER Republican.

I don’t think Cochran will get DEMOCRAT votes in the general election, do you?

McDaniel could repeat what he did on June 3 and be the next Senator from Mississippi.

The leadership of the liberal GOP in the Senate are liberal.

They must be denied a majority. Because of the actions of the GOP in MI, there are conservatives working toward that goal now.

The liberal republicans must be denied a majority in the Senate. I will work hard to see that happen.

Screw the liberal republicans.

I think it’s likely Cochran will retire before his term ends. Trent Lott “retired” early and Gov. Haley Barbour replaced him with 12-yr US House Rep. Roger Wicker who won reelection in 2012. Wicker had served in the MS House before running for the US House, so by 2012 he had a long record voters could judge. Not so, McDaniel.

They don’t call us “The Stupid Party” for nothing, although “The Cutting Off Our Nose To Spite Our Face Party” works too.

The pendulum swings again...

Cantor loses- Tea Party Runs the GOP.

Cochran wins- Tea Party dead.

Cochlea and Barbour employed the voter fraud and smear tactics of the left to get black dems to vote against McDaniel.

The poll is a sample of likely voters, many are quite accurate, but I don’t think there is a poll out there that can predict how many Rat voters will be bused to the polls on election day to vote for a Republican.

I think many of us on this site were surprised at the number of rat voters that showed up to vote in a Republican primary run-off election in Mississippi.

Cochran’s win will probably keep the seat in Repub hands, which is much more important than teaching RNC bigwigs a lesson they’re incapable of learning imo.

Big picture thinking like that will earn you a good flaming around here.

We have a cohort of Nervous Nellies who oppose Articles of Impeachment until we have 2/3 of the Senate. Then we have a bunch of Barn Burners who want to add one more Democrat to the Senate.

Contesting this runoff is certainly worth doing. A price needs to be exacted for the sleazy behavior that is coming to light.

Aiding and abetting the Democrat Party in ANY way is not our next best move after that.

I would so completely vote for the rat in MS if I lived there.

I live in KY. My choice is McConnel or the rat. I’m voting for the rat.

The big picture is that you don't get conservative governance from liberal republicans. They must be purged at either the primary or the general election.

Only after that happens, can conservative governance occur.

That is the big picture.
