The win of Sen. W. Thad Cochran over state Sen. Christopher B. McDaniel in the June 24 GOP Mississippi Senate Primary runoff by less than 5,000 votes is a pyrrhic victory for the Republican establishment.

I would so completely vote for the rat in MS if I lived there.

I hear ya, but not in 2014....although it is going to be horrible having a Senate full of RINOs. I like the idea of having the committee members being Republican heads. Plus, we get to pick and chose what bills get sent to Obama for the VETO pen. You can put a lot of attachments that make it look like Obama is turning down the poor with some bills when he VETOs them and other things that MIGHT help us in 2016. It is going to be a huge burden for us to keep the Senate even as bad as it is in 2016. Another Democratic Senator that could be a RINO would just make it that much closer for them to get the Super Majority needed. We don’t need that.

Americans have a character problem. Why would you not take gov. money when you just as easily could?

This brings to mind Rush Limbaugh's comment following the 2012 election that nowadays, Americans prefer relying on Santa Claus in the form of government handouts to working for a living.

Take this win away from him by either voting for the Dem or not voting at all.

After toying for years that I was still a "Republican" ...

dogged by the GOPe's elitist (Mitt Romney) attitude ...

I am finally "done" with the "bastards".

The GOP, NRA (et al) will NEVER get another dime from me.

McDaniel didn’t concede yet, did he?

I hope he is demanding a recount.

Make it your LIFE’S MISSION to expose and unseat this corrupt old b*stard, come November, and urge McDaniel to run as an Independent in November.

NO! Cochran is OLD. He may just drop dead at any moment especially with the stress of the campaign he just went through. If he wins and dies in office, the Governor picks and he just might pick McDaniel....another thing I heard is that Cochran may retire before the term is up. Why just give away a seat when we have a good opportunity to replace Cochran before his term ends one way or the other?

Every Tea Party group in Mississippi should be going DOOR TO DOOR in every Republican district, letting people know what this old reptile pulled to get re-elected.

Make it your LIFE’S MISSION to expose and unseat this corrupt old b*stard, come November, and urge McDaniel to run as an Independent in November.

Because Cochran relied on Democrat crossover votes to steal this election, McDaniel would be justified in running as an independent--and he could win, since Cochran and the Democrat would divide the "taker" vote.

What Cochran's victory says to conservatives:

"Shut up and get in the back of the bus!"

Yep. I am no longer a republican.

I know a ton of conservatives (many close friends) who switched to Independent voter because they are sick of the Republican......Big Problem is that they can’t vote in the Primary so we lose those voters for the conservative candidate. I wonder how many McDaniel lost to those Conservative Republicans that were unable to vote in the Primary.

Considering lawsuit alleging fraud in Dems in a predominately black district giving Cochran the victory.

All open primaries should be abolished. Why should Democrats choose the Republican candidates? It makes no sense.

New Mexico primaries are closed. That results in about 1/4 of the eligible voters NOT being allowed to vote. Independents are not allowed to vote because there is no "Independent" party. I would suggest the primaries be closed but Independents can vote for either party's candidates. There would be a ballot for Republicans, a ballot for Democrats, and a ballot listing both parties for Independents.

“...he just might pick McDaniel....another thing I heard is that Cochran may retire before the term is up....”

You want to base strategy on “he might” or “he may”???? He just TOLD you - with a giant middle finger - he’s in it to stay.

I’ll politely disagree with you, friend; Tea Party groups need to keep sending the message to the RINOs that the “Old Days” are over. Keep up the pressure and push until the RINOs break.

This old buzzard called in favors from Democrats. That should be making Conservative heads explode all across the state. Reminds of old Arlen Specter back in his day, jumping back and forth across the aisle to get re-elected and raping the taxpayers.

Fight nastier than the other side, or lose; the stakes are way too high.

Mississippi is 36% black and still has a sizable number of blue dog Dems. No uber-conservative “firebrand” type can win a general US Senate election there. That’s why Trent Lott lasted so long.

Savvy Dems should have voted in droves for McDaniel, making the “moderate” Dem candidate more attractive to more MS voters. Cochran’s win will probably keep the seat in Repub hands, which is much more important than teaching RNC bigwigs a lesson they’re incapable of learning imo.

Great. Enjoy Harry Reid as majority leader and all the new SCOTUS judges we get in the next 2 years.

The answer in not to cut off your nose to spite your face. The answer is to get power and THEN pay the bastards back.
