I’m for providing the with only Soylent Green...
Gibsmetat bucket of extra crispy.
***ping***
Commodity distribution centers with staples and enough good quality protein to cook at home. Of course, you won’t be able to buy drugs or a whore with a sack of flour and a dozen eggs .unless the economy really crashes in the last tow years of Obama Rule.
Seriously, that’s precisely what needs to be done.
Cash should have nothing to do with it, and no food more prepared than an MRE or something, only the basics, gub’ment cheese, etc
There’s no such thing as a free bucket of extra crispy. Somebody worked to pay for it.
I went to WalMart this morning. I bought $80 worth of supplies and paid cash. I got behind a woman a little older than myself dressed in shorts, flipflops, and tee shirt.
She had a cart filled to the brim. 20 2 liter bottles of Mountain Dew, 4 other 2 liter bottles of generic soda, 10 dual packs of cat food, 10 or 12 packs of Little Debbie sugar snack type foods, chips, dip, Cheetos and other junk food. ONE Gallon of MILK, one pack of bacon, a dozen eggs and two bunches of bananas. There was so much other crap, but it wasn’t what I’d call supplemental nutrition type.
She took her sweet azz time, even making us wait while she clumsily tied each 2 bottle bag of Mtn Dew together to carry easier.
After 10 minutes with the cashier looking at us behind her and mouthing “sorry,” the old bag pulls out the EBT card first and says put whatever will go on this. $97 of it went. She then had to pull out no less than three credit/debit cards to get the rest to go. Then she pulls out the cash she saved not having to buy food and asks for some cigarettes. She then toddled off with her stolen merchandise.
My cashier said “I’m sorry you had to wait.”
I looked at her and loudly said for everyone in line to hear, “I’ve worked since I was 14 years old, I always paid taxes, and I never took a dime from anybody, and for me to come up here and see someone like that using an EBT card to buy a bunch of soda, cat food, and junk food so they can save some cash for cigarettes is disgusting and disgraceful.”
The cashier said, “I know, it bothers me too.”
It’s not gonna do any good. My county of 30,000 people has 6000 of these leeches on SNAP. This means I’ll see one every time I go to WalMart, Kroger or Ingals. It won’t ever end.
Yep, that’ll work
The government corrupts everything it touches. Free stuff draws corruption like honey draws flies. Even so, the best way to keep abuse to a minimum would be to give grants to churches and local civic organizations to provide staples and soup kitchens.
MRE’s are too good for them; issue K-Rations and vitamin tablets.
Many years ago William Buckley advocated giving government surplus food to any American, no need to qualify, just wait in line. This was in lieu of food stamps,
I know someone who works at a pharmacy. Some of the welfare creeps have the nerve to get upset when they have to pay .50 cents for prescriptions that cost more than $20 to others with real insurance.
The welfare creeps also have the nerve to think what they have is “insurance”.
It infuriates her and the other employees, but they have to keep their mouths shut. Their employer is making a killing on this scam.
Great idea, why pay farmers not to produce when we could use that money for produce, transport, distribution, and storage
EBT is like handing $1000 cash to a five year old every month
Can’t they pay in returnable beer bottles or scrap metal?
In these parts, EBT users have been known to buy tons of soda (or whatever might come in deposit-type bottles/cans), dump the contents and then sell the glass or metal to the recycle guy for the dab of cash value.
When I was in high school, late 70’s, I had a friend who had a mom on welfare I remember going with her and her mom to a large warehouse
They were given large blocks of cheese, eggs, milk, beans, bread, flour,
THERE WAS NO SUCH THING AS AN EBT CARD!!!!!! It was embarrassing to go to this place but they got NOTHING but the bare
necessities!!!!!! The system WE have now is CRAZY!!!!!!
