The Hebrews, as far as I can tell, were henotheists until the Babylonian exile, when what becomes the Pharisee-branch recognizes that their God is the Lord of the Universe, not simply the strongest god among lesser gods. This is not a slight on the Bible, nor on God—God is who God is (remember, God refers to Himself as I AM WHO I AM), regardless of what humans might think. There are portions of the OT where God is presented as if He were the strongest god among many gods (Psalm 18 comes to mind, as does I Kings 18), but even then the presentation doesn’t contradict the revelation of God’s Supreme-Being-ness. When Jesus supports the Pharisaic worldview over that of the Sadducees in Matthew 22 (also in Mark and Luke), that settles the issue for Christians.
If the almighty someone prays to is not the almighty of the Bible, then they are praying to a false god. Churches who believe in a God that winks at sin is praying to a false god just as much as Islamists are.
If you are singing praise songs to a Jesus who does not desire repentance from sins and wants to be Lord of your life, then you might as have well carved that good out of a piece of wood and named it Jesus.
Allah's Apostle was asked, "What is the best deed?" He replied, "To believe in Allah and His Apostle (Muhammad). The questioner then asked, "What is the next in goodness? He replied, "To participate in Jihad in Allah's Cause." The questioner again asked, "What is the next (in goodness)?" He replied, "To perform Hajj Mubrur."
Jesus
One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?" "The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."
Allah is not the Christian God. Allah is only one of several names for god in arabic.
BIG-TIME TIRING, even infuriating!
Im waiting for some NUMBSKULL to perform a Muslim Wedding between 2 Transgendered dopes in the Episcopal Church.
we actually serve the same God
I used to think that as a teenager. Then I learned about Islam and it’s “teachings”. Alah is Satan - period.
No, because Islam will not save, only faith in Jesus sacrifice for us will do! He is the gate..
AIEEEEE!!!!
ping
few stranger things.....have ever happened
There is NOTHING in muslim history to suggest any good comes from following their teachings.
Muslims know that they are not the same. That's why they kill Christians and Jews- always have.
There is no Islam in the Bible.
God has nothing to do with Islam, or muslims, nor Allah. Christ also has nothing to do with Islam.
I have a Koran and read it. It is a mediaeval social construct, brutal and hateful. It has nothing to do with God, Christianity, nor the modern understanding of inalienable freedoms, and republican form of government. In fact, the Koran clearly identifies Islam’s enemies, designated for death, as Christians and Jews. That is why the idiotic muslims are always trying to kill us, because their religion tells them to do so. They are supposed to take over the world, according to their Koran. Kill Jews, Christians, and subjugate their women. It is very clear.
My God does not pat me on the head for blowing myself up among a bunch of women and babies.
Allah is not God, nor God like, more like the other.
Yep!
I like yours better. Keeping it and will use my non-labeled one for other things.
