Who has the standing to call Putin's actions in Ukraine - nekulturny?

At the end of WWII the Russian army raped and pillaged as they pushed the Nazis back into Germany [that barbarian nature that they have - yet are so sensitive about]. One thing that would cause them to pause [halt their knee-jerk barbarism] was being called nekulturny. No matter how uncouth and barbaric a Russian is by nature, they are very sensitive to being called on it.

Someone with authority [which leaves out Obama and Kerry] needs to paint Putin as being nekulturny - UNCULTURED!

Kerry did exactly this when he said Putin was acting so 19th Century, not like governments in the 21st Century.

But Kerry? Really? He has no authority, no gravitas. And he was too diplomatic about it. Someone who knows how to make a point clearly, needs to "shout" nekulturny! Enough with stupid gestures like Hillary's "resetting the button" act and Obama's "after election flexibility."

Will shaming Russians by telling the world that Putin's behavior is not acceptable to the sensibilities of this century, cause him to pause?

We need to call Hans Blix out of retirement to deal with this guy.

That’s mainly because I’d love to see how the Southpark guys would parody it.

Putin is a 19th century man with the traditional Russian paranoia about threats from Western Europe He wants Ukraine back for a host of economic and strategic reasons. Calling uncultured will only get him to respond that he is a Russian patriot

Nope. Centuries don't have sensibilities.

Cool but Russia will just say we did it too in Iraq in the former Yugoslavia. They may be amenable to some kind of grand bargain, but will need big concessions. Our leaders’ ideological posturing makes it hard for them to negotiate, because they have already gone on record using very strong language. Politicians should shut up. Look at how Russia is playing this. Cagey, terse statements, Putin chilling at the Special Olympics like it ain’t no thing. This is driving Washington crazy because they don’t know what he will do.

Meanwhile, our buffoonish leaders have given away their game plan and made rigid stances that they weren’t serious about. The whole thing has the making of a fiasco for the leadership in both parties if this goes sideways. That is hanging over DC like a cloud of sarin gas right now, hence the lack of action. They’ve even got recorded like morons and the candidate they discussed got appointed President.

Believe it or not, it would most likely do some good.

We remember that the ONE thing ‘ol Jimmah C did right was to ignore the Commie Olympics (remember the Misha bear?).
Internationally—they had cooties.
Their image never really recovered.

Very good point. Two things Russians are indoctrinated to despise are “fascism” (as in their Nazi enemies) and being “nekulturny.”

Also: in the old days, the KGB was called by ordinary Russians the “Kontora Grubij Banditov,” the Office of Crude Bandits.

That could also be pinned on Putin: “Boss of Crude Bandits” etc. (”Vozhd Grubij Banditov,” I think it would be.)

Put it together, “Putin is the uncultured boss of the crude bandits.”
