How Maddow’s MSNBC Takeover Dooms the Left
Frontpagemag.com ^ | 2-28-2014 | Daniel Greenfield

MSNBC reinvented itself around Rachel Maddow. Its new talkers, Chris Hayes and Ronan Farrow, are cut from the same cloth, delivering nasal lectures with a tone somewhere between passive aggressive argument and ironic detachment. Imagine Air America crossbred with NPR and then mated with Pitchfork Magazine. Their horrible abortion would be MSNBC’s bland hipster ethos of earnest liberals earnestly talking down to their audience while Al Sharpton tries to figure out how a teleprompter works.

The Maddow MSNBC is a leftist student newspaper stridently denouncing racism, sexism, homophobia, claustrophobia, transphobia, pipelines, microaggressions, white privilege, cherry pies, political incorrectness, model trains and obesity. Unlike the left’s highly successful mainstream media apparatus, it is overcrowded with professors of political correctness and Twitter activists who can’t talk to people, only at people, who assume that everyone who matters already agrees with them and that this self-important population is already watching MSNBC.

Every Liberal talk show has failed. Remember Air America. More people listen to farm reports than listened to that.
Let if fail....and die a slow and horrible death.

Maddow was born with male genitalia.

This post just caused me to turn on Morning Joe and watch it for about 60 seconds and guess what they were discussing? Republicans of course. 60 seconds was enough so I switched over to FOX only to see the ugly visage of Geraldo. I just can’t win this morning.

Their ratings could hardly be lower - a test pattern would probably draw the same number of viewers. Why does NBC keep this entity funded? Do they think it provides some sort of prestige?

Their ratings have been tanking. Morning Joe used to average above 400K, lately they’ve been below 350K. Why would a network pay their 3 primary commentators $6 million/year for ratings that low?

Don’t feel bad...on my drive to work, I forgot that Mark Davis is the Friday host on Bill Bennett’s show. Talk about a trifecta...lol.

Maddow is a lesbian and gay activist. We should expect nothing more than radical crap coming from her.

"Occasionally a parka wearer driving a Subaru will find his facial muscles twitching and the words beginning to form in his mind, “Shut the f___ up”; but then he will be taken away for a three week course of wheatgrass juice colonic therapy that will leave him a proper Pajama Boy again."

Hmm, so that's what has been happening to the wimpy RINOs in Congress!

Bit of a grandiose title. Maddow and company are but voices in a system. Systems continue. Just as Obama is only the president. I say this with a straight face (barely) to present the fact that the left is not doomed because of one or two or even a dozen-hundred foolish voices reading scripts in front of cameras. The left will continue even as, and perhaps because, it is represented by such vacuous ideologues. And, if one voice cracks and goes away, another can easily be found to take its place.

I did not know that Bill Bennett had a talk show. Where can I find it? I remember Mark Davis from years ago when he was a morning drive talker on WMAL in Washington. Don’t hold me to the station but I think that was it.

". . . who assume that everyone who matters already agrees with them and that this self-important population" has already read today's New York Times.

That's been my experience.

I find Chris Hayes actually fun to watch for a brief period.

He’s like a parody of a newsman and gets overwrought over things he is “investigating”. It’s a SNL style presentation..

They must be desperate.

MSNBC will not crash and burn while Dems are in control of the federal government.

Its previous owner, GE, was dependent upon government contracts.

It's current owner, Comcast, is a regulated cable provider. They will carry MSNBC at a loss, if they have to, in order to not piss off the people who control their existence. It won't matter if MSNBC winds up with only 5 viewers, it WILL be broadcast, and subsidized as needed.
