I had my own Street View discovery a few years back.
not really much of a surprise, I guess...

Several years ago, Google Earth had me either getting in or getting out of my pickup at our apartment. But they didn’t have street views here yet.

Street View is nifty, but it shows my neighbor's house as mine. I contacted Google, which said it would investigate, but months have gone by and the wrong pic is still up.
Funny thing is, I believe the county utilizes Street View in his property tax assessment and if I'm right, that might be why my property was assessed low. The house next door is in bad shape. Maybe I should leave well enough alone.

Almost everywhere I look the address is off by a bit. Even most GPS-based navigation systems show my house to be about 300 feet north of where I actually am located.

I would be surprised if the county used Street View for tax assessments, there’s a disclaimer as to the accuracy of the addresses on every Street View page (”addresses may be approximate”)

Well, where I live, county assessments are notoriously inaccurate, maybe even corrupt. I don't even know if the county uses its own assessors anymore. Last few assessments, they hired a third party, out-of-state company. The company's first assessments were such a mess, the company was rehired.
In the old days assessors came to the house and actually inspected. It's debatable whether they even approach my neighborhood anymore. Sometimes I think they just sit at a desk and pull numbers out of their rears.
