Mormon Church Head Summoned to an English Court to Answer Charges of Fraud
Yahoo Voices ^ | February 6, 2014 | Mark R. Whittington

Eugene Volokh relates an action by the Westminster Magistrate's Court in England that would be chilling if it were funny. It seems that the court is summoning a leader of a major religion to prove whether the doctrine of his church is true.

The court is summoning Thomas Monson, the current President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to answer charges under the Fraud Act levied by two disaffected ex-Mormons.

We NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER hear the whole story up front.
There is ALWAYS another side of the story.

It WOULD be nice to hear BOTH sides one day, RIGHT HERE on FR.

I always thought the Mormons were SO odd, believing that Jesus and Lucifer were BROTHERS.

Well, no, they aren't ODD, but wrong, wrong, wrong. Oh well, there time is just about over. After the Internet came into being, their numbers have been decreasing. Lol, but I read THAT on the Internet, so who knows.

What CHRISTIAN can believe that the Mormons are anything but VASTLY misinformed, theologically speaking?

So what ... Mormon’s being persecuted by law? sorry, but that story is nearly 200 years old! Why do you think they moved to Utah in 1847? .... to get away from bigotry vieled in law proceedings. I would be surprised if anything came from this just like the umpteen thousands of previous attempts.

Remember, Christ was also persecuted/executed by acting law officials. It’s a pattern repeated again and again, and is obviously one of Satan’s favorite gimmicks. If you haven’t experienced similar persecution for your beliefs, you ought to ask yourself why .... since it tends to be a legacy of the righteous.

The two ex-Mormons were also railing against the Bible. Are they going to call the Queen to court in her role as leader of the Anglican church? Accuse her of fraud, too?

Nope

1. BY wanted to continue to practice polygamy - illegal in the country

2. BY wanted to establish his own country with him as king and supreme leader.

How do you prove something that is based on faith? I think the Mormons are lost but I’d like to see this magistrate ask someone to prove Christianity is true.

-—”It seems that the court is summoning a leader of a major religion to prove whether the doctrine of his church is true.”-—

So now a court can demand people prove their religion is true or church leaders can be charged with fraud? Start summoning the Muslims then, cowards!

People are missing this part of the article - the ABSOLUTE TYRANNY of trying to make a church “prove” in a secular court that all its doctrine is “true.”

The Mormon leaders should tell this court to go pound sand.

While I do not agree with the Mormon teachings, I certainly DO NOT AGREE with some secular body deciding if it is right or wrong.

________________________________________

Because they wanted to sin...

Utah was part of Mexico when Joey Smith and Brigham Young first decided to move there...

In Utah territory they could practice polygamy and other unlawful activities far from the jurisdiction of the American authorities with their Christian rules..

Joey also wanted his followers to move to Mexico and start a Mormon colony there for the same reason ...

later the Romneys and other polygamous families gave up their American citizenships and did so ...

Nope Jesus was not executed for being a polygamist...

Brigham Young lied when he claimed Jesus was a polygamist...
