A Georgia Mother's Desperate Plea (Common Core)
Rob Cunningham USA ^ | Feb 4, 2014 | Rob Cunningham

Establishment republicans simply don't get it. Georgia Governor Nathan Deal and presumed 2016 GOP Presidential candidate, Mike Huckabee, are both big government elitists eager to use the massive machinery of government to implement a "brilliant federal scheme"; one guaranteed to damage public education as much as ObamaCare is damaging our nation's healthcare industry. Barack Obama will forever be associated with the nightmare known as ObamaCare. Yet, very few parents, taxpayers, educators and citizens understand the disastrous potential of Obama's hostile takeover of every single aspect of public education. How two so-called conservative republicans, Georgia's Nathan Deal and Fox News' Mike Huckabee, seem to have no problems with circumventing state, local and parental rights, handing national education and testing over to private trade associations and empowering unelected, unaccountable, and progressive private foundations such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundations, with a virtual monopoly of power, is beyond my comprehension.

Today, at the Georgia State Capitol, one mother read aloud her public plea for all those willing to listen. Below are her unedited remarks.

"Like many of the people who have come here today I am both a taxpayer and a parent and I am extremely concerned about the use of common core in our schools.

In short, I’ve found the math not only to be impractical, but filled with useless and utter nonsense. At the most basic level, simple addition is no longer simple – instead of 'adding the ones' and 'carrying the tens', my children are now being taught cumbersome and confusing grouping methods that require them to group the tens first and work backwards. What used to be very efficient and simple 2 step process is now a crazy 10 step monstrosity. Some problems can now require almost 100 steps to complete – and if students don’t show ALL of their work, it’s marked wrong.

Last year, Instead of moving on to multiplication, my second grader spent the ENTIRE year GOING BACKWARDS - specifically so that they could “RE-learn” how to add and subtract via common core. The methods were so bizarre and ridiculous, the teaches had to send home instruction sheets - Instruction sheets so parents of second graders could help their children to add and subtract. That’s absurd! - And second grade math is just the tip of the iceberg.

Among many things, my older child’s homework revealed that Common core has no emphasis on memorizing multiplication tables; it does NOT use standard algorithms; and as other parents I have spoken with have confirmed, it doesn’t even prioritize calculating your answers correctly.

Not only are “best guesses” and “estimations” acceptable, but apparently - as long as a child can explain the thought process as to how he or she determined that 2 x 2 =7, it’s fine - if these are our new standards …. ”Rigorous” is certainly NOT the word I would use to describe them!

The time consuming, useless strategies of common core have absolutely no practical application in the real world. No one is ever going to draw a 9 box array and take over a dozen steps and 20 minutes just to figure out how much to leave for a tip- or anything else.

Buying groceries . . . making change for a dollar . . . balancing a checkbook - every day life requires us to have the ability to quickly and ACCURATELY add, subtract and count money - So tell me . . .how would “guessing” or using a complicated, 45 minute process ever work for you? This is NOT going to prepare my children for college and it’s certainly not going to prepare them for life - common core is a total travesty of our children’s education. Contrary to some of the misinformation being reported, the true facts are - It is an unproven and untested experiment - and our children should not be used as its Guiney pigs!

As mom I am also outraged that the Department of Education will now be collecting personal information and intimate details about my children and our family and tracking it through a national data system. This is unacceptable – it is disturbing, and it is a complete violation of privacy

The oversight and control of our schools has always meant to be placed in the hands of the local tax payers who fund them and the parents of those children who attend them. PARENTS should have the strongest voice in their child’s education – not bureaucrats. And Georgia’s education system should be accountable to Georgia parents and Georgia tax-payers – not Washington DC

And so, as a mom I feel compelled to remind our school boards . . . our state senators . . . and especially our Governor – that you are all servants of the people. You are not only expected to HONESTLY represent those you SERVE, but you are obligated to be responsible stewards of OUR money and make just decisions in the best interest of our children and our future.

These are not SUGGESTIONS, they are your promises to the taxpayers who fund your salaries and trust in you to keep them. You are sworn to represent our will, not disregard our voice. So please, Governor Deal, hear me loud and clear - we do NOT want common core in our schools.

Not only is it destroying the achievement standards of our students and dumbing down our entire education system – but, in its wake, it’s also leaving our budgets destroyed, our schools non-transparent, our privacy violated and our children frustrated and confused.

It is imperative that we remove common core from our schools immediately and as both a taxpayer and mom, Governor Deal, I strongly encourage you to do so."

How two so-called conservative republicans, Georgia’s Nathan Deal and Fox News’ Mike Huckabee, seem to have no problems with circumventing state, local and parental rights, handing national education and student testing over to private trade associations and empowering unelected, unaccountable, and progressive private foundations such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundations, with a virtual monopoly of power, is beyond my comprehension.

Republicans, exactly what are your core principles?

The curricula has been contaminated since John Dewey. They have embedded and Germanized all curricula with Wundtian Psychology to program and train (like Pavlovian dogs). Read “Leipzig Connection”. Public School curricula was funded and controlled by the millionaires/billionaires. This book is short and outlines HOW they managed to destroy the Classical Education of the McGuffey Readers and before.

This conditioning removes Reason and Logic (which is only instilled with Classical education/Socratic Method, Aristotelian Logic, Euclidian Geometry). By eliminating Classical training of children-—which CC COMPLETELY ERASES and demeans and intentionally TEARS DOWN.

This is serious people. Public Schools INTENTIONALLY destroy REASON and LOGIC and uses psychology to embed EMOTIONS—which are connected to CONCEPTS——like Christianity is bigoted, evil etc.—so that children can not use Reason-—just emotions.

They are also programmed with “instant gratification” and with a system to remove all individuality and reflexion—to condition into “Group Think”.

All curricula is designed to flip morality and DESTROY virtue in children.

I am not making this up, It is SATANIC! YES!!!! It is intrinsically EVIL as all MARXISM is. CC is TOTAL CONTROL of all perceptions and ideas in your children.....TOP DOWN CONTROL!

We need a free system of education-—local control of ALL SCHOOLS. An AMERICAN concept-—not Marxist ones which dehumanize—remove Truth/God intentionally.

Wake up.

They are making “happy” slaves for the State-—just little worker bees for the elitists who will determine what your johnny is going to be doing by age 8. They will control who can do what-—and what schools and certificates they can have.....no freedom....no choice.

You may think that government controlling your child will be “good”-—because they can test for their “abilities”. Doesn’t work that way-—just for machines—never human beings.

We are talking about human beings who with their mother and father, deserve to decide what they love and want to do when they grow up. This is the American Dream. Governments need to get the hell out of our lives and making us slaves of the state ——DICTATED BY GOVERNMENT WHAT our kids will learn. (Billy Ayers minds made the curricula-—people who believe there is no God and billions of “humans” need to be killed”.) What ideas are being injected into these children!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately GOP was instrumental in prior Big Fed Govt Education programs like Goals 2000 and No Child Left Behind...and count Commie Core with that

Not only folks should be leery of Hucksterbee....Jeb Bush comes from the same family who pushed Goals and No Child

The GOP never actively supports home schooling...now we see why

One classical charter school in Colorado has a big problem with common core:

An award winning classical charter school in my state was also told to get with the program too.

Susie’s post is correct. But there are still pockets of public schools that are more individual, even if they officially use common core. Look for small school districts and tour even the classrooms and talk to the teachers. My whole state (ca) has gone with common core, but my son’s class is very independent. You might not want to always ask the school administrators or principal, who might be Proud To Be Common Core Compliant (whether they truly are or not, possible coerced into it) to your face. You might not be just a parent, you might be a journalist or state checker.

Get into the classrooms and ask the teachers. My son’s teacher uses curricula of her choice, and sometimes PAYS for it herself.

Otherwise, I’d go private schools - but ask, because some of them stupidly think common core is good too.

Interesting information. So I guess we should not be surprised that we have feral children and young adults with no impulse control or conscience.

Well, how can you justify wrong answers for HISTORY questions (has anybody noticed the leftist rewrite of history in these curriculae? There is so little truth and history has been reinvented totally! So, why bother over wrong answers everywhere else?

We tutor 1-5 graders on Tuesday afternoons. The math skills are nonexistent. They count in a convoluted way to get their answers, which is more often wrong than right, but the teachers ALL teach that method, apparently because it is the method of CC. OUTRAGEOUS! Our 3rd graders cannot change now, it is too difficult for them. I’d have dumped this method, and I’d have written DAILY letters to ALL the GA legislature until it was overturned! This is a disaster, not to mention that there are so many errors in the sheets the kids bring home! This program was not made to help our kids, but to dumb them down and to make them all sheep. Baah Baah!

We are disappointed in Nathan Deal. He is not the Governor he campaigned he would be. I was suprised when I heard he had embraced Common Core for GA but I figured he probably had no choice as he has been trying to clean up the teacher cheating scandal and get DeKalb County’s certification back. I think they just got it last month.

I don’t know if we are going to vote for Deal again. We are waiting to see who runs agains’t him.

Adam Lanza-—the killer had a computer filled with NAMBLA and homosexual junk. The sick and twisted minds are created.....he wasn’t born to be this way-—he was drugged and shaped by the state and the godless and a Leftist, irrational mother.

Socrates stated that Wisdom is being able to discern Good and Evil. The only purpose of education is to teach Virtue. He also stated that without Virtue—there can be no Free Republic.

Aristotle stated that Virtue is taught and habituated. All Western Classics were CLEAR on Good and Evil. Since the Postmodern movement-—the literature blurs good and evil and erases God and Objective Truth (that which forms our Constitution.)

There is a Reason that Logic and the Socratic method created the greatest cultures (most free and creative) in the history of man....The CC erases ALL of the Classical ideas and even the Modernists like John Locke and Adam Smith.

Knowledge which is profound-—has to come with BOOKS and hard work—with studying HISTORY and the geniuses and best ideas of the Past. Without that understanding, kids won’t figure out anything until they are 60 and it is TOO LATE.

For millions-—it will be impossible EVER to have concepts like a Socrates and John Locke or Thomas Jefferson without studying history and their thought process.

That is because the ONLY curricula which teaches truth and Reason and Virtue is the Classical curricula.

For the NWO-—these Marxists want “happy” slaves——programmed kids who have no ability to “think” outside the box and “question” the State’s control.

They only understand the Greek Masters if they study Classical Curricula-—the only way to learn how to “think” is understanding history and ideology of the geniuses throughout history.

The schools teach “group think’—and exactly what to “think” which is not ‘thinking”-—they tie emotions to the idea-—so they can’t even reason....they become emotional which ends all debates.

Good book which explains their methodology and how it was funded to take total control over the minds of our children: https://archive.org/details/TheLeipzigConnection

Thanks for the info. I used to feel bad that I never had children. Now I am sort of relieved. I could be a grandma with kiddo's being exposed to this crap. I pray for all the kids. They have no clue.

I see us going through the same steps that Nazi Germany did. I like history, even though it's not so positive.

The intense evil existed in ALL times. There is no “good” time to have children. Even in the Middle Ages, people had horrible, back-breaking lives with evil “rulers”.

We bring children into a Fallen World. We know that, but God commanded us to be “fruitful”....but His Plan is different for ALL of US and we need to trust in God—and always fight for Good. That is the history of the World.

People like Socrates had the truth-—and he was killed for stating it. Jesus was killed for the Truth and stated that those who follow him WILL be persecuted. Machiavelli was just stating the truth and he was exiled...it is ALWAYS the same. The fifties in the USA were idyllic but not in much of the world and part of the population.....it is all just a journey...and Virtue is the goal. Knowledge/Happiness is Virtue-—Ignorance is Vice.

This life on earth is always just short and transitory and brutal in ways and not the goal of “Life” anyhow.

Well I agree, but there have been times when having children at least in this country was easier. Of course it goes without saying that if I had children they would be home schooled.

But Common Core will eliminate all other “worldviews” because that is the point of Marxists systems. All SAT and college entrance exams will be geared to the Knowledge which is mandated in Common Core Standards-—even for homeschoolers. It mandates WHAT ideas can be taught in what grades.

All “curricula’ will be aligned to the tests which will control the allowed “ideas” of the students ==and I guarantee it will tear down (destroy) the Classical Thinking (ideology of Locke/Adam Smith/Founders/Socrates/Aristotle) and insert Feminist/Marsxist/Homosexual ideology (Marxism).

The forcing of Marxist ideology destroys Reason-—with ideology—you get ONE side of ALL views.

The curricula—like Terrence Moore States——uses Jane Austin (Classic) to actually tear down marriage of a man and woman-—they put it through the Feminist lens-—which warps all language and words and ideas.

It denigrates all Christian concepts and all Classical ideas through Pavlovian methodology and “group” think/humiliation of “thinking outside the box”.

That leaves the Progressive godless ideology of totalitarianism of anarchy which will be the final result of such a curricula which is written and controlled by Marxist evil minds like that of a Billy Ayers.

Oh, yes! The fifties in many small towns in America were great! Even large ones were so much fun and so free! Parents allowed their children to run all over the town from dawn until dusk and all people looked after them.

Satanic people were extremely rare and marginalized or jailed or locked up. The Innocence of childhood was very protected!

But, out of billions of people, Americans have been very Blessed and unique-—and it is all because of the ideology of geniuses growing up with Christian Ethics who created that Shining City on a Hill! They had Courage and Wisdom.

Yes, it's been tough this winter especially. The rough weather, (I hate winter every year), the criminals in the White House, these crazy out of control cops, on and on. I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s, even that looks better then now.
