Why Wendy Davis’s résumé issues matter
Washington Post ^ | January 21, 2014 | Chris Cillizza, The Fix

......."[Davis] hit state Attorney General Greg Abbott, the party's likely GOP nominee, for bringing up the story. "We're not surprised by Greg Abbott’s campaign attacks on the personal story of my life as a single mother who worked hard to get ahead,"................

.....................right now she is a national star thanks to her filibuster against a Texas abortion law but if she waits four years to run for something she may well be less of a big deal nationally.

Given all of that, Davis had to run for governor this year — even if she didn't think she could win. We've written that Texas' demographics are changing rapidly — the state is becoming much more Hispanic—but that Democrats will likely have to wait until 2016 or,more likely, 2020, before they can be truly competitive. By running now, Davis effectively reserves her place at—or close—to the front of the line in future statewide races....

Unless, of course, Davis is seen as running a sub-par candidacy. And that is where the danger in these résumé questions lies for Davis. If the campaign is dogged by stories about her bio and her star—which is ascendant at the moment—is viewed as tarnished in some real way, then her ability to reserve that place at the front of the line is far less certain. .......

What Davis then needs most of all is not to win—although that would be nice for her and her supporters—but rather to be seen as having run a creditable campaign that continues to elevate her star status. Allegations like these about her résumé, if they persist and/or lead to other problems with the campaign, are perilous to that perception.

Daily Caller: Wendy Davis open letter: ‘Damn right’ life story is true".............................Davis has blamed her likely Republican opponent, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, for what she sees as a political attack.

“The only thing Greg Abbott and his allies have proved with these desperate attacks is that they don’t understand what it means to live a life like mine — a life like that of so many people all across our state,” Davis wrote in her open letter.

But, Wayne Slater, the Dallas Morning News reporter who wrote the story says that he did not speak to any members of Abbott’s camp for his article.

Davis’ response has deepened the controversy.

“I am proud of where I came from and I am proud of what I’ve been able to achieve through hard work and perseverance. And I guarantee you that anyone who tries to say otherwise hasn’t walked a day in my shoes,” said Davis in a statement shortly after the Dallas Morning News article was published.

Abbott has been paralyzed since the age of 26."

National Review: Wendy Davis’s Defenders ".................Jones ends on a note that pretty much sums up the liberal reaction to criticism about Davis and her “fuzzy facts”:

>>>For Ms. Davis’ part, she has vowed to be more precise in her language, which is as it should be. But forgive me if I am more appalled by the vicious attacks from a party that pretends it’s Pro life and then removes social safety nets from single parents and demonizes single mothers and women in general, leaving vulnerable children to starve.<<<

Sure, she may have lied. But Republicans want to murder your kids."

“Projection” is the name of the Democrat Party game and the MSM is their town crier.

Abbot is disabled as am I, he prolly has a greater understanding of dealing with challenges than Abortion Barbie whose husband paid her way thru higher education.

As a disabled person dealing with govt agencies is hellish.

So, her Ex-husband (Who is not running for Governor) talks to a reporter and calls his ex-wife a liar.

The ex-wife says it the man who is running for governor’s fault

Yep, that makes a lot of sense!

This broad will still garner votes from the leftists. They don’t care about the integrity and character of their candidates so long as the candidate promises free stuff (such as abortion).

I saw one show on MSNBC last night, Maddow maybe, where they tried to make this part of the war on wimmun theme.

Of course it is so they can bang the "war on women" meme. Wendy Davis tried that tactic in 2012 when she claimed that she was being denied the right to vote because some ID she was carrying still had her ex-husband's name on it.

Such memes play well in the drive-by and socialist networking sites where they can be pushed out to a national audience who know of the participants but none of the particulars.

She abandons her kids and says how tough it is being a single parent in this world.

The trick she’s going to try to pull off is running nationally as a “victim” of the “War on Women” (for the funds and publicity) while running for a statewide office. Since it’s a state office, the national media may play down the scandals.

Even the Washington Post doesn’t think she has much chance of winning, that this effort is strictly to keep her name viable in larger politics after the publicity she got for stalling the Texas legistature over abortion.

I am no political consultant but I wouldn’t debate her on anything. All I would say about her is ‘like 0bama she doesn’t tell the truth.’

I don’t think Rick Perry ever did debate former Houston mayor Bill White.

Interesting. There is more than one way to run a campaign. I sure think that a lot of liberals aren’t worth responding to. Don’t argue with idiots and all that.

I don’t know if Bill White is still planning to run for the US Senate. That was the ploy when he ran for governor (again, only half heartedly expecting to win, but needing to get his name up to Dallas and elswhere in the state).
