What is a staple and who decides? How many more government workers will have to be hired to decide what constitutes food qualified as a staple for SNAP and what does not? How many will need to be hired to enforce these requirements? Is calling the increase of government regulation and increased federal employees the best use of our efforts in this fight?

These are legitimate things to point out to you. You seem to think that because a person is on SNAP that they are unable to decide what type of food they should purchase. That is an elitist attitude. It is also an unwinnable argument that we should refuse to engage in. It is falling right into the trap of the Left that we are all heartless haters.

These are basic arguments that you think are attacks. they are not they are not.

To deny that you haven’t had certain benefits that others haven’t had is also a steaming pile of crap. We all have certain benefits and deficiencies.

Just being born on the USA at an age before Obama is a massive benefit. Just being born with an IQ above room temperature is benefit. Being born to a married mother and a stable father is a benefit. These are all benefits that several of us did not have to overcome.

We can discuss how to limit fraud. But that discussion is worthless because no one in DC is interested in limiting fraud and abuse. That means we should change the argument to explain WHY Obama and the Left have caused the need for these programs to expand so rapidly. A discussion on that benefits us and leads the Left into our trap of discussing actual policy and proven outcomes from those policies. They can not beat us with facts. They can only call us uncaring and heartless. That constant assault on our motives has won them great power and influence.

Don’t fall into the trap of fighting on their ground. Change the discussion to an argument that we can win. Complaining about food stamp recipients buying non-staple items, as you see them, is not a rational or winnable argument to in which to engage. Explaining that Obama’s and the Left’s policies are the cause for the massive increase in Welfare IS an argument we can win and one that is backed up nicely by verifiable facts and figures.

So, pray tell what is the “winnable” argument you wish to shift toward? I haven’t been able to decipher your intent on that score.

You fairly obviously do not want to discuss the dissolution of the EBT programs that are rife with abuse (I cannot state that all are abused this heavily because I do not have the data at my disposal). You don’t want to discuss how to structure a program that is less prone to abuse by limiting the utility of the “free” money.

At the end, you say we should be shouting from the rooftops that Obama is causing massive expansion of welfare, food stamps, etc. On that we fully agree.

I just don’t understand how you can push for that and not want to address the issue of fraud and abuse in the existing system. That is another non-sequitur.

Instead, you want to lecture me about being elitist. That’s both humorous and offensive.

What you term ‘benefits’ I call ‘circumstances’. Some of my circumstances are better than what others have faced. Some are worse. I call that “life”.

I’m quite certain I’m NOT falling into the trap of fighting a liberal on his ground, Jim from C-Town. I refuse to allow you to ‘shame’ me because you can’t understand the difference between anger over wasted taxpayer money and “hatred”.

You are in desperate need of a reading comprehension class.

READ the article. It is about the abuse of the CASH benefits through the EBT program. NOT about the abuse of SNAP through EBT. Not once is food stamp SNAP EBT benefits even mentioned in the article. You and others immediately decided that the way to curb the abuse mentioned would be to limit the use of SNAP to food staples. Whatever those food stapes might be and whomever would decide what does and does not constitute a staple.

The argument is WHY is there such an increased need in Welfare benefits five years after Obama was elected and WHY since the recession ended in 2009 are the welfare rolls of all types expanding.

There is always abuse of government programs. That is why as Conservatives we decry most government programs. They distort the market and always create unexpected consequences. That is why the Government that governs best, governs least. It is also why the best place for government action is at the local level. The worst for social programs is the Federally as it is the furthest from the person.

Pray tell, the argument is that the programs are abused because they have become so needed because of the incredibly stupid and retrograde policies of the Left. That is the argument. That is the one we can win. Not what precise foods a person can or can not buy with SNAP benefits.

I for one knows that you have fallen into a trap. We do it all the time. The trap is fighting a battle on a premise that they decide. That is their entire game and they are good at that game.
