Someone once told me that Lithuanian dictionaries tend to show Sanskrit word etymologies.

What’s your take on the connection between the two languages?

The theory holds (I don't know if it is still the prevailing one) that Lithuanian is a direct descendent of proto-European, having taken a different route than Latin, for example. And another difference between Lithuanian and Latin is that the latter is a dead language.
